Mr. Fred J. Vivacqua

Frankfort - Mr. Fred J. Vivacqua, 71 years, of 326 First Ave. passed away on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at St. Luke´s Memorial Hospital with his family by his side.

He was born on Wednesday, December 19, 1945 in Frankfort, the son of the late Joseph and Mary (Papa) Vivacqua. He attended Frankfort schools and graduated from Frankfort-Schuyler High School with the class of 1966. He served with the US Army in Vietnam with the 571st Trans Det. Acft Maintenance and was a recipient of the Bronze Star. He was Honorably Discharged on October 2, 1968 with the rank of Sergeant. Fred was married to Joan Vivacqua on August 5, 1972  in St. Peter's Church, North Utica. Fred was employed with Remington Arms for many years until his retirement in 2010. He was a communicant of Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church and a member of the Ilion Fish and Game Club, American Legion Post 845 and the VFW Post 502. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, kayaker and loved camping. He loved anything involving the outdoors. 

Fred is survived by his beloved wife, Joan Vivacqua; one son and daughter in law, Michael and Kirstin Vivacqua of New Hartford; daughter, Christine Vivacqua and her companion, Ben Hans of N. Utica; sister and brother in law, Linda and Sam Costanza of Frankfort; his grandchildren, Shana Vivacqua, Vincent Vivacqua and Thomas Vivacqua; his aunts and uncle, Mary Foglia, Agnes Wilk, Dolores Vivacqua and Sid Vivacqua, all of Frankfort; his in laws, Kathleen Alexander, Sister Margaret M. Edic CSJ, Carol Edic, James and Shirley Edic, Joseph and Kathleen Edic, Francis and Denise Edic, Robert and Lisa Edic, Raymond and Dorothy Edic, Richard and Michelle Edic, Peter Edic, Walter and Janice Edic and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

His funeral will be held Thursday morning at 9:45 from the V.J.Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc. 203 Second Ave. Frankfort and at 10:30 in Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by his cousin, Rev. Francis Vivacqua. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Calling hours will be Wednesday evening from 4-8 at the V.J.Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet, 385 Watervliet-Shaker Rd., Latham, NY 12110. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
