Mary Louise Smith

Ilion - Mrs. Mary Louise Smith, 84 years, passed away on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at St. Luke's Hospital with her loving family by her side.

Mary Louise was born on September 2, 1933 in Cambridge, NY the daughter of the late Chester and Irene Depelli Wilson. Her family moved to the Frankfort area in 1942. She attended Frankfort schools and graduated from Frankfort High School in 1951.

In September of 1951, Mary Louise and Curtis Smith were united in marriage, a union that lasted 58 years until Curtis' passing in 2009. Mary Louise was employed at Remington Rand in Ilion until it closed. She then worked at GE Radio-Reciever in Utica until it closed. She spent the next several years working as a substitute office manager in several apartment complexes.

Mary Louise is survived by one son, Dennis of Ilion; one sister, Marilyn Hughes of Whitesboro; her sisters-in-law, Harriet Wilson of Scotia, Janet Smith, Betty Vanderbilt and Carol Rex of Ilion, Nancy Ebersold of Chittenango and Rosetta Smith of Madison. 

She was predeceased by her son, Erik on April 19, 2013; her brother Warren and his wife Helen Wilson; Kendall Hughes, Wallace Smith, Curtis Vanderbilt, Lyman Rex, Leonard and Muriel Lasher of Frankfort, Ray Richmond, Hollis Smith and Clair Ebersold.

Her funeral will be held Saturday afternoon at 2:00 PM from the V.J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc. 203 Second Ave. Frankfort with the Rev. Dwayne Durand, officiating. Calling hours will be Friday from 4-7 PM at the V.J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home Inc. Interment will take place in St. Mary's Cemetery later this spring.
