Please share a memory of Robert to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Mr. Robert J. Zuccaro N. Utica - Mr. Robert J. Zuccaro, 91, of N. Utica passed away Thursday, January 26, 2017 in St. Elizabeth's Medical Center with his family by his side. He was born in Little Falls on January 19, 1926, the son of the late Lorenzo and Theresa Ferranti Zuccaro. He attended Little Falls schools and graduated from Little Falls High School with the class of 1944. He served with the US Navy during World War II aboard the USS Boxer in both the Atlantic and Pacific Theaters. He was Honorably Discharged on July 5, 1946. Following his military service he attended and received his Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from Bentley College, MA in 1970. He was married to Mary Ann Foti on May 8, 1954 in St. Anthony's Church, Herkimer. They had a loving and devoted marriage for 40 years until Mary Ann passed away on June 14, 1994. Robert was employed as a Manager of Contracts for General Electric for 37 years and used his talents at the Kent St., Broad St. and later the French Rd. plants until his retirement in 1987. He was a member of Utica American Legion Post #229, Utica Maennerchor where he was elected as Treasurer for many years and the Fraternal Order of Eagles. Robert's approach to life was "family first" - attending sports, school, or music events where his children or grandchildren were involved. He enjoyed trips to New York City with his wife to see Broadway plays and Yankee baseball games with family. He served as an example by persevering and completing his college education during the evenings while working at GE until he achieved his BS degree in 1970 at the age of 44. Robert was a devout Catholic, a man strong in his faith and values. He'll be most remembered and treasured for his unconditional love for his family, his sense of humor, kindness, compassion, generosity and willingness to lend a hand to family, friends, and even someone he just met. Robert's 3 sons all agree, that throughout the years their Dad taught them lessons of moral principles, values and character, and even as he battled various illnesses in the final stages of his life, he continued to teach them faith, courage and strength. Robert is survived by three sons and two daughters in law, Robert Jr.and his wife, Mary Debra Zuccaro of Baldwinsville, Richard and his wife, Dr. Jennifer Carbone Zuccaro of New Hartford and Ronald Zuccaro of Cicero; four grandchildren, Robert J. and his wife, Hope Marie Zuccaro, Jonathan J. and his wife, Amanda Lynn Zuccaro, Danielle Marie Zuccaro and Sienna Rose Zuccaro three great-grandchildren, Alexander Joseph Zuccaro, Jonathan Lucas Zuccaro and Robert William Zuccaro and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
