Ms. Mary M. Iocovozzi, Esq. Lowville - Herkimer - Ms. Mary M. Iocovozzi, Esq., 63, of N. State St. Lowville formerly of Herkimer, passed away unexpectedly in the comfort of her home on Monday, December 5, 2016. She was born in Ilion on January 28, 1953, the daughter of the late Vincent J. and Rose DiSano Iocovozzi. She attended and graduated from St. Mary's Parochial School, UCA with the class of 1971. She went on to graduate Cum Laude with her Bachelor of Science Degree from Syracuse University, Newhouse School of Communications with the class of 1975 and received her Juris Doctor Degree from Pace University School of Law. She was admitted to the New York State Bar (4th Department) Northern District, US Federal District Court. Mary was currently employed as the Assistant County Attorney for Lewis County in Lowville since March of 2015 and served at the Attorney for the Department of Social Services Family Court Matters and Juvenile Defendants. Prior to her employment in Lowville, she owned her own private practice in Herkimer from 1985-2015. She also formerly served as part-time Assistant County Attorney for Herkimer County from 1998-2012, part-time Town Attorney for the Town of Frankfort from 1990-1992, part-time Associate Counsel for the Office of the Assembly Minority in Albany from 1986-1989, Associate Attorney with Horigan, Horigan & Lombardo, Attorneys-at-law in Amsterdam and served as Assistant Corporation Counsel for the City of Amsterdam from 1983-1985. She served as the Director of the Economic Development Department for the City of Yonkers from 1980-1982, Director for the Industrial Development Department, Queens County Overall Economic Development District in Kew Gardens, NY from 1978-1982 and Assistant to the Director for the South Bronx Overall Economic Development District in Bronx, NY. She was Past President of the Mid-York Chapter of the Women's Bar Association of NY (WBASNY), Herkimer County Bar Association, Oneida County Bar Association, Lewis County Bar Association, a Delegate from Mid-York Bar to Women's Bar Association of the State of NY and a member of the Court of Appeals Judicial Screening Committee. In her spare time, she volunteered as a Trustee with the Friends of the Herkimer Home, Relay for Life, the American Cancer Society and was recently a member of the Board of Directors for the Lewis County Historical Society. Mary served as the corporate attorney for her family business, the V.J.Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc., the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi & Burns Funeral Home, Twin Oaks Memorials and Forever Meadows Pet Cremation and Memorialization Services. She was a communicant of Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church in Frankfort. Mary is survived by two sons, Alexander Zito of Brooklyn and Marcus Zito of Philadelphia, PA; one sister, Geralyn M. Iocovozzi of Syracuse; three brothers, Damian J. Iocovozzi of Palm Springs, CA, Cosmas Iocovozzi of Newington, NH and Vincent DePaul Iocovozzi of Frankfort; her nephews, Vincent G. Iocovozzi, Gabe Iocovozzi and Matthew Iocovozzi; her aunts and uncles, Violet and Joseph DiMaggio, Bennie Palmieri of Frankfort, John and Cookie Iocovozzi of FL, Celeste Iocovozzi of Savannah, GA, Angelo Long of Frankfort, and her beloved dog, Houston and several cousins. She was predeceased by her father, Vincent J. Iocovozzi on February 1, 1973, her step-father, Frank N. Seppi on November 20, 1997, and her mother, Rose Iocovozzi Seppi on November 27, 2014. Her funeral will be held Saturday morning at 9:45 AM from the V.J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc., 203 Second Ave. Frankfort and at 10:30 AM in Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church where a Funeral Mass will be celebrated by the Rev. Paul Catena. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Calling hours will be Thursday, December 8th from 5-8 PM and Friday, December 9th from 5-8 PM in the V.J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc. Members of the Bar Association will meet Saturday morning at Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church, S. Frankfort St., Frankfort at 10:15. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mary's memory may be made to The Leo House, 332 West 23rd St. New York, NY 10011. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
