Mr. James J. Romeo Frankfort - Mr. James J. Romeo, 79, of 215 E. Main St. passed away, Saturday, August 6, 2016 in St. Luke's Memorial Hospital with his family by his side. He was born in Frankfort on January 7, 1937, the son of the late Joseph and Margaret Patti Romeo. He attended Frankfort schools and graduated from Frankfort-Schuyler High School with the class of 1955. He later attended MVCC and SUNY IT. Jim was married to Caroline Galvano on June 16, 1956 in St. Mary's Church, Frankfort. Caroline passed away on July 2, 2000. He served with the US Navy Reserves. James was the Owner and Operator of Romeo's TV, Ilion and later, the Melrose Market, Frankfort. He was also employed in the Radar Division at Griffiss Air Force Base for many years and was an instructor at Oneida Correctional Facility. He was a communicant of Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church and a member of the Ilion Moose Lodge #1010. He served as a Trustee for the Village of Frankfort and later as the Mayor from 1985 to 1989. James is survived by five daughters and four sons-in-law, Linda and Joseph LaValla, Donna and Mark Brown, Mary Romeo and her fiancé, Paul Palumbo, all of Frankfort, Susan and Rocco Perretta of New York Mills and Denise and James Luther of Frankfort; his beloved companion, Peg Perrone of Ilion; fourteen grandchildren, Daniel and his wife, Shelley LaValla, Jami LaValla, Corey LaValla, Stephen Brown, Eric Brown and his wife, Katie, Laura and her husband, Major Robert Kazmarek US Army, Jeff Brown and his wife, Marissa, Nick Sparagna, Anthony Sparagna, Carlie Perretta, Adriana Perretta, Jimmy Luther, Maria Luther and Vincent Luther; son in law, Michael Johnson of Frankfort; one sister and brother-in-law, Jane and Salvatore Baggetta of Herkimer; six great-grandchildren, Aiden LaValla, Aria LaValla, Andrew Kazmarek, Christopher Kazmarek, Michael Kazmarek and Madalynn Brown; his in laws, Catherine and Joseph Terras and Thelma Romeo; his aunts, Mary Branck and Gloria Branck and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his daughter, Carol Ann Romeo Johnson on August 5, 2004; one sister, Carol Romeo and three brothers, Salvatore Romeo, Joseph Romeo and Louis Romeo. His funeral will be held Wednesday morning at 9:45 from the V.J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc., 203 Second Ave. Frankfort and at 10:30 in Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Paul Catena and Rev. Frank Vivacqua. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Calling hours will be Tuesday, August 9th from 4-8 PM in the V.J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc.
