Mrs. Julia Polansky Schuylerville - Little Falls - Mrs. Julia Polansky, 86, of 514 Rt 32 S, Schuylerville formerly of Polansky Rd. Little Falls passed away peacefully Tuesday, September 28, 2004 in her home. She was born in Herkimer on July 3, 1918, the daughter of the late Mathew and Tekla Hytko Politylo. Julia attended and graduated from Herkimer Schools and later attended and graduated from Utica School of Commerce. She was married to Alec Polansky on November 19, 1949 in St. Mary´s Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Herkimer. Mr. Polansky passed away on October 18, 2000. Mrs. Polansky was employed as a Secretary for the Town of Herkimer Welfare Office and later for Herkimer County Veterans Service Agency, Herkimer for many years. She was a Communicant of St. Mary's Ukrainian Orthodox Church and a member it's Sisterhood. Though Julia hadn't lived in the Herkimer area for several years she was very proud to have come from the area and would regale people with stories of her growing up in Herkimer. She especially liked to relate the lessons learned when Miss Tuger was principal of the Herkimer Schools, her daily train rides to Utica to attend Utica School of Commerce and her interactions with the people of the Mohawk Valley as she helped them obtain citizenship or assisted Veterans with their affairs. Julia was fluent in five languages. Julia is survived by two daughters & sons in law, Mary & Robert Pezdek of Cohoes and Jean & Mark Connolly with whom she resided in Schuylerville; two granddaughters, Sarah & Her Husband, Michael Smith and Laura Pezdek; one brother & sister in law, Michael & Anna Politylo of Herkimer; three sisters& brothers in law, Mary & Michael Rapacz of St. Johnsville, Margaret & William Pupchek of FL and Jean & Jerry Lyktey of Utica and several neices, nephews and cousins. Her funeral will be held Saturday morning at 9:00 from the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi, & Burns Funeral Home, 329 S. Washington St. Herkimer and at 9:30 in St. Mary's Ukrainian Orthodox Church with the Rev. Fr. Yaroslav Stebelskyy, officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary's Ukranian Orthodox Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday 2-4 and 6-8 at the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi, & Burns Funeral Home. Parastas will be held Friday evening at 7:15 at the funeral home with Father Stebelskyy, officiating. Julia's family would like to publicly acknowledge the outstanding support of those who helped care for Julia in her last months especially Beverly Everts of Schuylerville, Naida Jeffers of Ballston Spa and Hospice of Saratoga for their outstanding care and support during her illness and passing. Contributions in Julia's memory may be made to St. Mary's Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Herkimer or the Community Hospice of Saratoga. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
