Saundra Leonis Macidyn
Saundra Leonis Macidyn, OCDS, 64, passed away peacefully in her Syracuse home on Friday, January 24, 2025 with her family by her side.
She was born on October 22, 1960 in Ilion the daughter of Margaret “Peggy” LaMondie Leonis and the late Ronald C. Leonis. She was the niece of the late Gary Leonis. She was born in Ilion and attended the Frankfort Schuyler Schools and graduated from Frankfort Schuyler High School with the class of 1978. Saundra obtained her Masters of Science and Business Management from SUNY Polytechnic Institute. She was involved at the ST. Francis House, Syracuse and also the Syracuse Diocese. Saundra was a communicant of OUR Lady Queen of Apostles Church, Frankfort. Her dedication in her faith was very strong and she became a member of the Carmelite sisters from the Secular Order of Discalced Carmelites of St. Joseph the Protector.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Greg; one daughter, Alyssa (partner, Jake DePoint); mother, Margaret “Peggy” Leonis; brother, Ronald C. Leonis II; uncle, Karl LaMondie (friend, Mark King); aunt, Debby LaMondie; a special cousin, Sally Manno and many loving cousins.
Saundra is survived by her many sisters in law and brothers in law, Sheila and Ken Maul, Renee and Joel Connelly, Nadine and Frank Glass and Ginger and Shawn Boast; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews; and loving cousins on her husband’s side.
She is also survived by her loving friends, religious clergy, Carmelite sisters from the Secular Order of Discalced Carmelites of St. Joseph the Protector, New Hartford, NY.
In lieu of flowers, please make checks out to support the Secular Carmelite Order, OCDS St. Joseph, OCDS St. Joseph, 15 Bartlett Rd. Whitesboro, NY 13492. There will envelopes available at the funeral home.
Her funeral will be held Saturday, February 8, 2025 at 9:45 from the V.J.Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc. 203 Second Ave., Frankfort and at 10:30 in Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church, S. Frankfort St., Frankfort where a Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated by the Rev. Paul Catena, Pastor. Spring interment will be in Mt Olivet Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday, February 7 from 4-7 in the V.J.Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc. A service in Syracuse, NY will be held on at a later date in Holy Cross Church, DeWitt.
