Richard George Becker
Mohawk – Mr. Richard George Becker, 87, of Mohawk passed away Wednesday, February 4, 2025, in Bassett Health Care with his family by his side.
He was born in Brooklyn, on September 18, 1937, the son of the late William and Anna Riggers Becker He attended schools there and graduated from Mohawk High School with the class of 1954. He served with the US Army and was Honorably Discharged on January 22, 1959.
He was married to Phillis Ciaccio on September 20, 1958 in St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Brooklyn. Richard was in the Maintenance Crew for NYS Thruway Authority, Herkimer, NY
He was a devout Christian and attended Trinity Lutheran Church, Herkimer. He was a member of the Herkimer Elks, NYS Teamsters, Farm Bureau, Mohawk American Legion and the Ilion Fish and Game Club. He absolutely loved his family and was happiest when helping others. Besides his family, he loved rodeos, farming and especially horses.
Richard is survived by his beloved wife, Phillis Becker, of Mohawk; two sons and daughters in law, Richard and his wife, Valerie Becker of Mohawk and Clint and his wife, Rose Becker of Douglas WY; two daughters, Kathy Becker and Jacinda Sommers of Massapequa NY; one sister, Rosemarie Rocciolla; his sister in law, Kathy Ciaccio, eleven grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his daughter, Diane Marie Becker, on May 8, 1973.
His funeral will be held Saturday May, 31, 2025 at 11:00 AM in the V.J.Iocovozzi Funeral Home, 203 Second Ave., Frankfort, NY. Interment will be in Dennison Corners Cemetery, Robinson Rd, Mohawk. Calling hours will be Saturday morning from 10:00 to 11:00 in the V.J.Iocovozzi Funeral Home, 203 Second Ave., Frankfort. His funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi & Burns Funeral Home, 329 S. Washington St., Herkimer, NY.
On behalf of his entire family they would like to thank the nurses and staff of Bassett Healthcare, Cooperstown, for the wonderful care and compassion shown to him during his final days there.
