Frankfort - Mrs. Mary T. Sgroi, 84, of 131 Sheldon Ave passed away Sunday, August 17, 2008 in Valley Health Services. She was born in Herkimer on April 26, 1924, the daughter of the late Anthony and Antoinette Giovanpietro Pacini and she attended Herkimer schools. She was married to Sam A Sgroi on June 17, 1947 in St. Anthony's Church, Herkimer. Mr. Sgroi passed away on November 3, 1985. She was a communicant of Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church. Mary was a loving mother who enjoyed cooking for her family especially at holiday time. She was an avid bingo player, loved country music and her feline companions. Mary is survived by two daughters & one son in law, Linda & James Jordan of Edmond, OK and Susanne Sgroi & her companion, James French of Frankfort; two sons, Anthony Sgroi and Salvatore Sgroi & his fiancée, Lorraine Gonyea all of Frankfort, three sisters & one brother in law, Ottavia Maida of MD, Yolanda Tripple of Frankfort and Palma & Michael Ambrosewicz of Herkimer; one brother, Joseph Pacini of Herkimer; her in laws, Mary Pacini, Josephine Mezza, Jim & Vivian Sgroi, Carmella Micciche, Carmella Loiacano and Martha Clayton and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by two brothers, Sam Pacini and Dino Pacini and her twin sister, Alda Pacini. Her funeral will be held Thursday morning at 9:30 am from the V. J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc., 203 Second Ave. Frankfort and at 10:00 am in Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Alfred Lamanna. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 4-8 at the V.J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc. Mary's family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the nurses and staff of the MVNH, VHS, St. Elizabeth's Medical Center and Hospice for the wonderful care shown to her during her illness and passing.
