Obituary of Alex Oriole

Frankfort - Mr. Alex Oriole, 91, formerly of Fifth Ave Ext. passed away Friday, February 22,2008 in Valley Health Services. He was born in Frankfort on August 24,1916, the son of the late Joseph and Mamie Silvestri Oriole and he attended Frankfort schools. Alex served with the US Army during World War II in the European Theater. He was married to Alma Page on May 22,1967 in Herkimer. Alma passed away on November 26,2006. Mr. Oriole was employed as a Supervisor for M.D.S. Herkimer for many years. He was also the owner and operator of Oriole Sunoco Service Station, Main St., Frankfort for many years. He was a communicant of Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church and a member of Mid Valley Beagle Club and was one of its founders and served as a Past President. Alex is survived by one son, Victor Oriole of Frankfort; one step son & daughter in law, Richard & Dale Rima of Parish, NY; one step daughter, Virginia Kennedy of Boston; two sisters, Eleanor Kinney of Frankfort and Agnes & Don Marrone of FL, two brothers and one sister in law, Dominick & Marie Oriolo and Frank Oriolo all of Frankfort, his sisters in law, Emma Page of Canandaigua, Marie Oriolo of Frankfort and Evelyn Oriolo of Little Falls; six grandchildren; two great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by one daughter in law, Pamela Oriole on March 1, 2001 and two brothers, Joseph Oriolo and Nick Oriolo His funeral will be held Wednesday morning at 11:30 am from the V. J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc., 203 Second Ave. Frankfort and at 12:00 pm in Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. John Yanas. Spring interment will be in Oak View Cemetery. Calling Hours will be Tuesday from 4-8 at the V. J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc. Alex's family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the nurses and staff of Valley Health Service for the wonderful care and compassion shown to him during his stay and passing.
