Mr. John S. Lichorowiec
Herkimer - Mr. John S. Lichorowiec, 88, of Herkimer passed away Tuesday, February 19, 2008 in the Mohawk Valley Nursing Home after a long illness.
He was born in New York Mills on March 4, 1919, the son of the late Simon and Sophie Pikel Lichorowiec. He attended New York Mills Schools and was a graduate of New York Mills High School, with the class of 1938. John was united in marriage to Regina E.Olechnicki on November 25, 1943 at St. Joseph's Church in Herkimer. He served in the United States Army during World War II and was honorably discharged as a Technical Sergant in October of 1945. He was employed by Remington Rand and Univac for thirty-three years and lastly by Hamilton Digital until his retirement in 1982. He was a dedicated communicant of Sts. Anthony & Joseph Church.
John is survived by his beloved wife Regina; one son & daughter-in-law John Duane & Rita Lichorowiec along with two cherished grandsons Brian Patrick & Sean Michael Lichorowiec, all of Glenmont, NY. He is also survived by one sister Gladys Kozak of New Hartford, NY as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by an infant grandson, Kevin Patrick Lichorowiec and two sisters, Wanda Lichorowiec & Sally Dzialo.
His funeral will be held Saturday morning at 9:30 am from the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi, & Burns Funeral Home, Inc. 329 S. Washington St. and at 10:00 am in Sts. Anthony & Joseph Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Anthony Ligato. Spring interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Herkimer. Calling hours will be Friday from 4-6 at the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi, & Burns Funeral Home, Inc. The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to all the dedicated and caring staff of the Mohawk Valley Nursing Home for the wonderful care John received there.
