Obituary of Homer W. Haman

Frankfort - CW2 Homer Haman USA (ret), 71, of Furnace Rd., answered the final roll call on Wednesday, May 4, 2011 in St. Luke's Memorial Hospital. Homer was born in Frankfort on November 28, 1939, the son of the late Arleigh and Eva Miller Haman, Sr. He attended Frankfort schools and graduated with the class of 1957. He then began a three and a half year drafting apprenticeship at General Electric’s Light Military Electronics Department in Utica. He spent the next twenty-four years on various Military Contracts as a Detailer and Designer. The remainder of his thirty-eight years were spent in Configuration Management and culminated with his retirement on December 31, 1994. On September 10, 1966, Homer was united in marriage with Patricia Siuzdak in Sts. Peter and Paul Church, Frankfort and enjoyed a loving union for 44 years. Homer enlisted in the New York Army National Guard in September of 1963 and retired in May of 1989 as a Chief Warrant Officer in the 42nd Infantry Division. He was a member of the NYNG High Power Rifle Team from 1979 to 1989. He was also a Life Member of the National Rifle Association. He was an avid woodworker, creating many heirloom pieces of furniture for family and friends. He was also a member of the Power of the Past club and enjoyed working on his antique Allis Chalmers tractor. He is survived by his lifelong sweetheart, Patricia; his beloved children, Michael Haman of Utica and Michelle Haman of Connecticut; his sister and brother in law, Rhodana and Michael Conners of Frankfort and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his brother Arleigh Haman, Jr. on December 19, 1990. His funeral will be held Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at 10:00 AM from the V. J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc., 203 Second Ave., Frankfort and at 10:30 AM in Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church where a Funeral Mass will be celebrated by the Rev. Leo Potvin, assisted by Deacon James Bower. Interment will be in Frankfort Center Cemetery. Calling Hours will be Monday from 4-7 PM at the V.J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
