Obituary of A. Lorraine Galotti

Frankfort - Mrs. Alice Lorraine Galotti passed away on Thursday, April 28, 2011, at the Presbyterian Home where she resided for a short time. She was born on August 19, 1927 in Pulaski, NY, the daughter of the late Arthur and Grace Kelly Creech. She attended Pulaski schools and graduated from Pulaski High School with the class of 1945. On October 27, 1945, she married Louis "Gene" Galotti of Utica. They were just a few weeks away from celebrating their 50th Anniversary when Gene passed away on September 5, 1995. An accomplished seamstress, she worked for many different sewing firms in the area. She is best remembered for making special occasion dresses and gowns for her daughters and many of her younger family members. In the 1960's she was proud to be an organizer for the International Ladies' Garment Workers Union, where she tried to improve the pay and working conditions of local women in the garment industry. Lorraine is survived by two daughters, Carmela and her husband, Raymond Tarasiewicz of Oriskany and Grace Darlene Scaparo, Frankfort; one son, Nick Galotti and his fiancée, Susan Griffin of Frankfort; her eight grandchildren; Jean Galotti Everill and her husband Scott of Deltona, Fl, Lisa Galotti Wollermann and her husband, Torsten of Deltona, Fl, Pamela Tarasiewicz of Rome, Trish Tarasiewicz Altimonda and her husband, Michael of Liverpool, NY, Michael Tarasiewicz of Marcy, Laura Tarasiewicz, of Rome, Charles P. Scaparo Jr. and his wife, Jennifer (Giovinazzo) of New Hartford, and Gina Scaparo and her fiancée, Michael Haskins of Frankfort; her great grandchildren, Zachary Everill, Adam Everill, Abby Everill, Kaylee Wollermann, Amanda Wollermann, Braden Altimonda, Sophia Scaparo and Mia Grace Scaparo; her sister, Thelma Pascal of Milford, Conn. and several nieces, nephews, and special friends, that she cherished, including Lena, Dora, Marge and Dot. She was predeceased by her husband, Gene, her son-in-law, Charles P. Scaparo Sr., her brothers, William, Cliff, Kenneth and Arthur and sisters Marjorie Hier and Phyllis Shaddox. In accordance with Lorraine's wishes, there will be no calling hours. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the nurses, aides, staff and volunteers of the Presbyterian Home for the superior care and concern that they demonstrated for Lorraine every hour and day of her residence at the home. The family wants to especially thank Dr. Thomas Spath for his decades of compassionate care and concern. Lorraine wanted him to know that she felt safe when she was in his charge.
