Obituary of Francis Shamrock Aurigema

New Hartford - Mr. Francis Shamrock Aurigema New Hartford - Mr. Francis A. "Shamrock" Aurigema, 79, of 17 Parkview Dr., passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 18, 2010 in his home. He was born in Frankfort on February 10, 1931, the son of the late Anthony and Frances Terranover Aurigema. He attended Frankfort schools and graduated from Frankfort High School with the class of 1949. Shamrock served during the Korean War as a photographer in the US Air Force with the 72nd Recon Tech Squadron and was Honorably Discharged on December 8, 1954. He was married to Andrea LaClair on June 22, 1974 in Utica. Shamrock was at one time employed by General Electric, French Rd. Plant as a photographer and later was the owner and operator of Valley Graphic, Utica for many years until his retirement in 1997. He was a communicant of St. Anthony and St. Agnes Church, a member of the St. Francis DiPaolo Society, Frankfort and the American Legion Post 1376, New Hartford. He was well known for his hot pepper dishes, meatballs and his daily and weekly visits to his personal friends. Shamrock is survived by his beloved wife, Andrea Aurigema, one son and daughter in law, Frank Anthony (Gootie) and Angela Aurigema of Utica; two daughters and sons in law, Michelle and Mark Hollingshead of Baldwinsville and Maria and Dale Wehrle of New Hartford; his cherished grandchildren, Nicholas Hollingshead, Natalie Hollingshead, Joseph Aurigema, Nina Aurigema, Emily Wehrle and Ryan Wehrle; one brother, John Aurigema of Mentor, OH; two sisters and brothers in law, Diane and Julius Perillo of Frankfort and Marie and Anthony Palumbo of Frankfort; his in laws, Jacklyn and Pat Gurdo, Bolita and Gary Schorer, Maynard "Ricky" and Linda LaClair, Karen and Frank Arrigo and Christine and Gary Artessa and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends at the Knight Spot, St. Francis Club and Thurston's. He was predeceased by his father in law and mother in law, Maynard and Eva LaClair. His funeral will be held Saturday morning at 10:00 AM from the V. J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc., 203 Second Ave., Frankfort and at 11:00 AM in St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church where a Funeral Mass will be celebrated by the Rev. Anthony Lafache. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday from 3-7 at the V. J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc. Members of the New Hartford American will meet Friday evening at 6:00 pm and the St. Francis Society will meet at 6:30 at the funeral home for services.
