Frankfort - Mr. Jack P. Montalto Sr, 95, of 4208 Acme Rd passed away Wednesday, April 7, 2010 in Folts Home. He was born in Chicago, IL on May 23, 1914, the son of the late Giacomo and Concetta Barretta Montalto and he attended Frankfort schools. Jack served with the Civilian Conservation Corps and later with the US Navy and was Honorably Discharged on July 8, 1944. He was married to Nina Di Piazza on June 8, 1940 in St. Mary's Church. Nina passed away on March 3, 1966. He was later married to Anna Swald in May of 2005 in Our Lady Queen of Apostles. Jack was employed as an Inspector for Chicago Pneumatic, Utica for 30 years until his retirement in 1971. He was a communicant of Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church and a member of the Ilion Moose Lodge #1010, the Addolorata Society and the Sons Of Italy. Jack was extremely family orientated and will always be remembered by his family for the love he showed them Jack is survived by his wife, Anna Montalto; two sons, Jack Montalto Jr of Herkimer and John Montalto and his companion, Dorothy Evans of Frankfort; one daughter & son in law, Nancy & John Delisle of Chesapeake, VA; his sisters in law, Roberta Sportello and Mary Sportello both of Frankfort; four grandchildren, Matthew Montalto and his companion, Amy, Petty Officer 1/C Michael Montalto US Navy Seabees, John Mark Delisle and his companion, Lisa and Tracy Delisle and her companion, David; three great grandchildren, Carson Montalto, Matthew Robert Montalto and Emily Taylor; his stepchildren, John & his wife, Linda Swald of Oriskany Falls, Marcia & her husband, Ron Layland of FL, Lester Swald of Frankfort and Gary Swald of Remsen and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by three brothers, Joseph Sportello, Louis Sportello and Matthew Montalto and two sisters, Concetta Montalto and Mary Caruso His funeral will be held Saturday morning at 9:30 AM from the V. J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc., 203 Second Ave. Frankfort and at 10:00 AM in Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the V.Rev. Anthony Barratt, pastor and assisted by Deacon James Bower. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery with full military honors accorded by the US Navy. Calling hours will be Thursday from 7-9 and Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 at the V. J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc. Jack's family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to all his caregivers for the love and support shown to him over the years Contributions in Jack's memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
