Herkimer - Mr. Michael Nakoneczny, 84, formerly of the Galinski Apartments, passed away peacefully Monday, March 29, 2010 in the Folts Home. Michael was born in Herkimer on August 28, 1925, the son of the late Joseph and Helen Tebinka Nakoneczny and he attended Herkimer schools. He served with the US Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theater and was Honorably Discharged on March 25, 1946. He was married to Agnes Kolinski Davidowicz on May 7, 1977 in Herkimer. Mrs. Nakoneczny passed away on September 30, 2002. Michael was employed as a Clerk for Sperry Univac, Ilion Plant and later for Partlow, Utica. He was a communicant of Holy Family Parish, Little Falls and a member of the MV Polka League. He was an avid NY Yankee and Syracuse Basketball fan. While in high school, he loved to play baseball as a pitcher and was very proud that he once pitched a no hitter. He and Agnes loved to dance and would be seen at many Polkas' throughout the area. Michael is survived by one sister, Mildred Krenichyn of Herkimer; two step daughters, Diane and her husband, Ken Pedone of Utica and Debra and her husband, Charles Dixon of Syracuse; four grandchildren, A. J., Jessica, Colleen and Lindsey; two nieces, Carol and her husband, Charles Higgins and Denise Paul; and four nephews, Kevin and his wife, Laura Krenichyn, Jan and his wife, Mary Dobek, Ronald and his wife, Donna Weir and Randall Weir and Lee Ann Romanelli and several great nieces and great nephews. Michael was predeceased by one brother, Peter Nakoneczny; three sisters, Nellie Weir, Mary Nakoneczny and Ann Dobek and his nephew, Joseph Dobek. His funeral will be held at Wednesday morning at 10:15 from the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi, & Burns Funeral Home, 329 S. Washington St., Herkimer and at 11:00 in Holy Family Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Thomas Lawless, Pastor. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery with full Military Honors. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 5-8 at the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi, & Burns Funeral Home.
