Frankfort - SSGT James Enos Tripple US Army Ret, 81, of 122 Sheldon Ave passed away Monday, March 22, 2010 in the Presbyterian Home of CNY Cedar Wing. He was born in Frankfort on September 13, 1928, the son of the late Ignazzio James and Rose Polizzi Tripple and he attended Frankfort schools. From a young age, Enos loved to make people smile. He enjoyed entertaining others with his singing and dancing. No matter what his age was, Enos' voice and legs remained young. He served with the US Army during World War II in the Pacific Theater and was Honorably Discharged on September 20, 1947 with the rank of Corporal. He later served with the US Army Reserves and was Honorably Discharged on May 2, 1991 with the rank of Staff Sergeant. Enos began his formal employment working for the New York Central Railroad. He was married to Helen Leo Grande on July 2, 1949 in St. Joseph's Church, West Winfield. Mr. Tripple was employed as a Cutter/Grinder for Chicago Pneumatic, Utica for many years until his retirement in 1985. Enos will be remembered for his many years of employment as the front-man at State Street Mill, Herkimer. He later was a courier for Slocum Dickson Medical Group. Enos was a Village of Frankfort Police officer for over 20 years and received the respect from the village residents for his excellent service to them. He was a communicant of Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church and a member of the American Legion Post #845, Ilion Moose Lodge #1010, VFW Post #502 Frankfort - Ilion and the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers Local 645. James is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Helen Tripple, three daughters and sons in law, Regina and Francis Cole of Burlington, KY, Shelley and Al Manieri of Herkimer and Trudy and Fred Rockwood of Pittsford; his cherished grandchildren, Jannel and her husband, Joseph Scalise, Jessica Manieri, Janine Manieri, John and his wife, Amanda Cole and Andrew Cole and his companion, Sara Lewis; four great grandchildren, Jianna Scalise, James Scalise, Evan Cole and Grace Cole; three sisters in law, Yolanda Tripple, Mae Pierce and Shirley Holmes; his special friends of the Tuesday Night Coffee Club, several nieces, nephews, cousins and his lifelong friend Joe Matarottz. He was predeceased by six brothers, Anthony Tripple, John Tripple, Samuel Tripple US Army KIA WWII, George Tripple, John Tripple and Dominick Tripple; five sisters, Vita Bello, Florence DeCarlo, Connie LoConti, Sarah Sgroi and Mary N. Sweet; his grandson, Jeffrey Manieri and his great granddaughter, Baby Scalise. His funeral will be held Thursday morning at 10:00 AM from the V. J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc., 203 Second Ave., Frankfort and at 10:30 AM in Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the V.Rev. Anthony Barratt and assisted by Deacon James Bower. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery with full military honors. Calling Hours will be Wednesday from 4-8 at the V. J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc. Members of the American Legion will meet Wednesday evening at 6:00 and the VFW at 6:30 at the funeral home for services. Enos' family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to Dr. Scott Brehaut, Diane Hilton, NP and the nurses and staff of the Presbyterian Home of CNY Cedar Wing for the wonderful care and kindness shown to him during his stay and passing.
