Clinton, NY - Simsbury, CT - Mr. Henry F. Kilfoil, 87, of Clinton, formerly of Simsbury, CT passed away peacefully Thursday, March 18, 2010 in St. Elizabeth's Hospital, Utica. Henry was born June 8, 1922 in Hartford, Connecticut, the son of the late Henry W. and Irene Leary Kilfoil. At an early age he and his family moved to various locations. Henry began attendance at St. Augustine School in 1928 in Hartford and graduated from Cathedral High School in Springfield, MA with the class of 1936. When the US entered World War II, Henry was a student at Holy Cross College in Worcester, MA. He graduated from Holy Cross on October 31, 1943 with his degree in Business Administration. During World War II Henry served in the US Navy as a Lieutenant (JG) on board the USS APC 27, a cargo vessel in the South Pacific and later on board the Sea Going Tug, USS ATR 55 in the Atlantic and Gulf of Mexico. After separation from the Navy, Henry married Cecilia Ogozalek on August 3, 1943 in Chicopee Falls, MA. They moved to Hartford where Henry joined the Aetna Casualty and Surety and remained in their employ for 40 years in several managerial capacities except for a brief exposure in the travel business. Henry retired in 1997. Henry is survived by his loving wife Cecilia; one son and daughter in law, Dr. Barry and Denise Kilfoil of Cary, NC; two daughters and sons in law, Sharyn and Ed Lester of Frankfort, and Patricia and Stephen Wietlisbach of Fayetteville; eight grandchildren, Heather Lester, Christopher and his wife Carin Lester, SSGT Kelli Wietlesbach USAF, Matthew and his wife Christina Wietlesbach, SSGT Joseph Wietlesbach US Army, Dr. Terrance and his wife Amanda Kilfoil, Jessica and her husband Miles Efron, and Brandon and his wife Brooke Kilfoil; nine great grandchildren, Dakota, Emma, Ava, Ashton, Ryleigh, Owen, James, Brice and Evan. Funeral Services will be held Monday morning at 10:00 from the V.J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc., 203 Second Ave., Frankfort and at 10:30 in Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Anthony Barrett and assisted by Deacon James Bower, officiating. Interment will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Chicopee, MA with full military honors. Calling hours will be held Sunday from 4-7pm at the V.J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc.Contributions in Henry's memory may be made to St. Mary's Church, 942 Hopmeadow St Simsbury, CT 06070 in the Kilfoil name. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Henry's family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the staff at the Lutheran Home Rehab Center and St. Elizabeth's 4A for the wonderful care and compassion shown to him during his stay and passing.
