Mohawk - Mrs. Alice B. Walczak, 91, formerly of Hillview Dr., passed away Saturday, January 30, 2010 in Mohawk Valley Nursing Home. Alice was born in Jersey City, NJ on February 4, 1918, the daughter of the late Alex and Anna Krzesicka Radaskiewicz. She attended Herkimer schools and graduated from Herkimer High School with the class of 1936. She was married to Walter C. Walczak on May 9, 1943 in St. Joseph's Church, Herkimer. Mr. Walczak passed away on December 20, 2003. Alice was employed as a waitress at the Wagon Wheel, Ilion for many years. She was a communicant of Sts. Anthony and Joseph Church and a member of its Rosary Society. She was a former active communicant of St. Joseph's Church and a member of its Parish Council and Senior Choir. Alice was also a member of the Polish Community Home Auxiliary and of the Minnowbrook Garden Club. She is survived by her nieces and nephews, Robert and his wife, Nancy Wilson of Frankfort, Carol Wilson Gula and her husband, Fred of Guilderland, Donna Walczak Abrams and her husband, Richard of FL, Patricia Walczak Frazier of Little Falls, Deborah Gogol Deer and her husband, Henry of FL, Jerome Walczak of Little Falls, John Paul and his wife, Sheri Walczak of Little Falls, James and his wife, Linda Walczak of Herkimer and several cousins. She was predeceased by two brothers, John Radaskiewicz and William Radaskiewicz and three sisters, Ann Wilson, Helen Walczak and Florence Gogol. Her funeral will be held Tuesday morning at 9:30 from the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi, & Burns Funeral Home, 329 S. Washington St. Herkimer and 10:00 in Sts. Anthony And Joseph Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Thomas Lawless, Pastor. Spring interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Calling hours will be Monday from 4-7 at the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi, & Burns Funeral Home. Alice's family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the nurses and staff of the Mohawk Valley Nursing Home for their care shown to her and the Mohawk Homestead for their wonderful care of her for many years she stayed there.
