Obituary of Salvatore DiMartin

Frankfort - Mr. Salvatore F. DiMartin Sr., 60, of 111 Sheldon Ave. passed away Tuesday, January 5, 2010 in St. Luke's Memorial Hospital with his loving family by his side. Sam was born in Ilion on August 8, 1949, the son of the late Salvatore and Mary Zito DiMartin. He attended Frankfort schools and graduated from Frankfort Schuyler High School with the class of 1968. He was married to Linda Bono on September 22, 1973 in St. Mary's Church. Sam was at one time employed as a driver for Oneida Motor Freight and later for St. Johnsbury Trucking, Syracuse. He was a communicant of Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church, a member of the St. Francis Di Paolo Society and the Teamsters. Sam was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will always be remembered by his family as a tough and strong-willed man. He loved to ride his Harley throughout the area and made many friends along the way. Sam is survived by his beloved wife, Linda DiMartin; two daughters and one son in law, Jessica DiMartin and her fiancé, Michael Atkinson of Frankfort and Vanessa and Michael Curley of Utica; one son, Salvatore DiMartin Jr. and his fiancé, Rachel Russitano of Frankfort; his grandchildren, Jordyn Atkinson, Olivia Atkinson, Michael Atkinson and Ellianna Curley; one brother and sister in law, Joseph and Janet DiMartin of Frankfort; his mother in law, Bella Bono of Frankfort; his in laws, Phyllis and James Caruso of Frankfort, James and Toni Bono of NC, MaryAnn and Rick Plano of CA and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. His funeral will be held Saturday morning at 10:30 from the V. J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc., 203 Second Ave., Frankfort and at 11:00 in Our Lady Queen Of Apostles Church where a Funeral Mass will be celebrated by the Rev. Leo Potvin assisted by Deacon James Bower. Spring interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at the V. J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc. Sam's family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the nurses and staff of St. Luke's Memorial Hospital's 6th floor, especially Wendi, Nancy and Virginia for the wonderful care and kindness shown to him during his illness and passing.
