Ilion - Mr. Curtis H. Smith, 81, of 201 E Clark St passed away Saturday, October 3, 2009 in St. Luke's Memorial Hospital. He was born in Lenox on May 20, 1928 the son of the late Harold and Ruth Cox Smith. He attended Frankfort schools and graduated from Frankfort High School with the class of 1947. Curtis served with the US Air Force and was Honorably Discharged on July 7, 1950 with the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was married to Mary Louise Wilson on September 8, 1951 in Frankfort United Methodist Church. Mr. Smith was employed as a cost accountant for Remington Arms, Ilion until his retirement in 1987 after 34 years of service. He was a member of American Legion Post Ilion, NY Curtis is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Louise Smith; two sons and one daughter in law, Dennis Smith of Ilion and Erik & Michele Smith of Forney, TX; his grandchildren, Jessica, Joshua, Julia and Jordan; four sisters, Betty Vanderbilt of Ilion, Muriel Lasher of Frankfort, Nancy & Paul Hunt of Munnsville and Carol Rex of Ilion; one brother and sister in law, Hollis & Rosetta Smith of Earlville; three sisters in law, Marilyn Hughes of Whitesboro, Harriett Wilson of Scotia and Janet Smith of Ilion and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by one brother, Wallace Smith in 1989, his in laws, Curtis Vanderbilt, Raymond Richmond, Leonard Lasher, Lymon Rex, Claire Ebersold, Warren & Helen Wilson and Roscoe Kendell Hughes. His funeral will be held Wednesday afternoon at 1:00 pm in the V. J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc., 203 Second Ave. Frankfort with the Rev. Duane Durand, officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery with full military honors. Calling Hours will be Tuesday from 4-7 at the V. J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc. Members of the American Legion will meet Tuesday at 6:30 at the funeral home for services.
