Mooresville,NC-Little Falls- Mr. William "Bill" Pupchek, Sr, 80, of Mooresville, NC passed away on Saturday, July 18, 2009 at Serenity House in Mooresville. Mr. Pupchek was born in Dolgeville, NY on October 4, 1928, a son of the late Stephen and Mary Czerhoniak Pupchek He was a longtime resident of Little Falls, NY until his retirement in 1987, at which time he and his wife relocated to Pinellas County, Florida. In 2008, they moved to Mooresville. Mr. Pupchek was graduated from Oppenheim-Ephratah Central School and Albany Business College. He was a purchasing agent for 35 years at Chicago Pneumatic in Utica, NY, and was a past president of the Chicago Pneumatic Management Club. He was a former member of SS Peter and Paul Orthodox Church in Herkimer, NY, where he served as a member and a former president of the parish council. He also previously belonged to St Gregory the Theologian Orthodox Church in Tampa, FL, where he was a parish council member, and St Michael's Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Pinellas Park, FL. Most recently, he was a member of St. Luke Greek Orthodox Church in Mooresville. While devoted to his church, he loved his family, first and foremost. Bill was united in marriage with the former Margaret Politylo on July 19, 1952 at St Mary's Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Herkimer. Together they raised four children Bill is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Margaret Pupchek; three sons & two daughters-in-law William & Leanne Pupchek of Mooresville, NC, David & Mary Beth Pupchek of Baldwinsville, NY, and Gregory Pupchek of Pensacola, FL; one daughter & son-in-law, Jean & William Hall of Hockessin, DE; his grandchildren, Adam Pupchek, Zachary Pupchek, Julie Hall, Carolyn Hall, and Tyler Pupchek, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by three brothers, Michael Pupchek, John Pupchek, and Walter Pupchek and one sister, Theodosia "Daisy" Harris. His funeral will be held Wednesday at morning 10:30 from the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi, & Burns Funeral Home, 329 S. Washington St. Herkimer and at 11:00 in SS Peter and Paul Orthodox Church with Archpriest James M. Jadick, officiating. Interment will be in SS Peter and Paul Orthodox Cemetery. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 9:00 to 10:30 at the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi, & Burns Funeral Home. The family would like to express their profound gratitude to the nurses and staff of both Serenity House and Hospice of Iredell County for the outstanding care and compassion shown to Bill during his illness and passing.
