Obituary of Lawrence A. Cote

Mohawk - Mr. Lawrence A. Cote Mohawk - Mr. Lawrence A. Cote, 64, of 2536 St Rt 168 passed away peacefully Friday, March 6, 2009 in V A Hospital, Syracuse. He was born in Ilion on December 1, 1944, the son of the late Armond and Laura Larouch Cote. He attended Frankfort and Herkimer schools and graduated from Herkimer High School with the class of 1962. He served with the US Army during Vietnam War and was Honorably Discharged on May 1, 1974 with the rank of Sergeant. He was the recipient of two Purple Hearts for injuries sustained in Vietnam, the Air Medal and one Bronze Star for valor. Larry was married to Sherry L. Harter on June 27, 1964 in Annunciation Church, Ilion. Sherry passed away on March 26, 2008. Mr. Cote was employed as a Heavy Equipment Operator for Town of German Flatts for many years. Larry was also the owner and operator of Up the Creek Antiques, Mohawk for many years. He was a member of American Legion Post #25, Mohawk and the Military Order of the Purple Heart. Larry loved the outdoors and was hoping to enjoy fishing with his family this April. Lawrence is survived by one brother and sister in law, Ronald & Priscilla Cote of Mohawk; two sisters and brothers in law, Karen & James Papke of Oakville, CT and Sandra & Marlin Keim of Lancaster, PA; his in laws, Frank & Florence Harter of Mohawk, Verna Gydsen of Ilion, Linda La Marshe of Plattsburgh, Willamita Merril of FL and Dorothy Ward of Oklahoma City and several nieces, nephews and cousins. His funeral will be held later in the spring in Mountain View Memorial Gardens, Town of Little Falls with full military honors. His funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the V. J.
