Mrs. Helen P. Slopka
Herkimer - Helen P. Slopka, 87, of 715 W. Walnut St passed away Sunday, August 21, 2005 in St. Elizabeth's Medical Center.
She was born in Herkimer on October 25, 1917, the daughter of the late Anthony and Aniela Piotrowski Rozinski. Helen attended Herkimer schools and graduated from Herkimer High School with the class of 1935. She was married to Joseph Slopka on June 28, 1941 in St. Joseph's Church, Herkimer. Mr. Slopka passed away on March 17, 1998. Mrs. Slopka was a seamstress for many dress shops throughout the valley. She was a member of Sts. Anthony And Joseph Church and the International Ladies Garment Workers Union.
Helen is survived by her beloved son & daughter in law, Gary & Lee Slopka; two grandchildren, Christopher Slopka & his fiancée, Tiffany Scalise and Alexandra Slopka; two sisters, Florence Rozinski and Wanda Rozinski both of Herkimer; her in laws, Dorothy Slopka and Betty Slopka both of Dolgeville, Marge & Philip Catalfamo of Albany and Mary Smith of Little Falls and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Her funeral will be held Wednesday afternoon at 1:00 pm in Sts. Anthony And Joseph Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated by the Rev. Anthony Ligato, Pastor. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. There will be no public calling hours. Her funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi, & Burns Funeral Home, 329 S. Washington St. Herkimer
