Obituary of Josephine M. Branck

Frankfort - Mrs. Josephine "Pippy" M. Branck, 90, of 406 Fourth Ave. Ext. joined her beloved husband, Jerry Branck, into eternal rest on Friday, January 9, 2015 in the comfort of her home in the Windham Neighborhood at the Masonic Care Community with her loving family by her side.
She was born in Frankfort on July 21, 1924, the daughter of the late Thomas and Rosina Terravecchia DeJohn and she attended Frankfort schools, graduating from Frankfort High School with the class of 1942. She later attended and graduated from the Utica School of Commerce. On November 28, 1946 she was united in marriage to Jerry F. Branck in St. Mary's Church, Frankfort. Together they shared a loving and devoted union of forty-one years until his passing on November 4, 1987.
Josephine was employed as a secretary for the Frankfort-Schuyler Central School System for 29 years until her retirement in 1986. A devout Catholic, Josephine was a communicant of Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church, a member of its Altar Rosary Society and the Young at Heart Senior Citizens.
Josephine passed on her Italian heritage through her cooking and baking, traditions and love of family. She especially loved Christmas when she would cook and bake tirelessly for her family and friends to enjoy and took much pleasure in decorating her home. She was a loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and great-grandmother whose family was of utmost importance to her. Her greatest joy was spending time with them. Josephine will be remembered and deeply missed by her family and all who knew and loved her.
Josephine is survived by her beloved daughter Mary Jo and son in law, John Restante of Frankfort; two granddaughters and their spouses, Heather and Michael Irons and Jennifer and Anthony Spina; her five cherished great-grandchildren and "Little Nani's," Michael, John and Alyssa Irons and Carmelo and Vincent Spina; her sisters in law, Irene DeJohn and Sylvia Branck and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by three sisters and two brothers in law, Angela and Edward Spencer, Mary and Frank Forlano and Josephine DeJohn; five brothers and three sisters in law, James and Theresa DeJohn, Joseph and Loretta DeJohn, Frank and Eva DeJohn, Leo DeJohn and Jimmy DeJohn; her in-laws, James and Margaret Branck, Joseph Branck - US Army KIA WWII, Frank Branck, George Branck - US Army KIA WWII, Mary and August Maida, Catherine and Joseph Girantino, Frances and Ted Tucci and Anne Branck and a special cousin, Jane Zito.
Her funeral will be held Tuesday morning at 10:30 from the V.J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc., 203 Second Ave. Frankfort and at 11:00 in Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church where a Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Rev. Paul Catena. Spring Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Family and friends may pay their respects Tuesday morning from 8:30 until the time of services in the V.J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc. Members of the Young at Heart Senior Citizens will meet Tuesday morning at 10:00 for services.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Josephine's memory may be made to the Masonic Care Community, 2150 Bleecker St. Utica, NY 13501 or to Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church, 412 S. Frankfort St. Frankfort, 13340. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
Josephine's family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to Dr. Wilcox and all the attentive and caring aides, nurses and staff of the Masonic Care Community's Windham Household for their wonderful care and compassion and for treating Josephine with dignity and as if she were family.
