Frankfort - Mr. Ronald C. Leonis, 76, of First Ave. passed away Tuesday, December 16, 2014 in St. Elizabeth's Medical Center with his loving family by his side.
Ron was born in Frankfort on August 27, 1938, the son of the late Samuel and Evelyn Price Leonis and he attended Ilion Central High School, graduating with the class of 1956. He was married to Peggy LaMondie on July 2, 1959 in Annunciation Church, Ilion. He proudly served in the US Navy aboard the USS Norris DDE 859 in Norfolk, VA from 1956 until his Honorable Discharge in 1959. Following his Military service, Ron was employed with Univac for 18 years until their closing. He then was employed with the Village of Frankfort as a Budget Officer and Account Clerk for the Water Superintendent until his retirement in 2000. Following his retirement, he worked as a consultant for both the Villages of Frankfort and Ilion.
He was a member of the American Legion Post #845, Frankfort, where he was a member of their bowling league. Ron was a Frankfort Pop Warner and Little League Coach for many years. He enjoyed golfing, fishing and bowling and was an avid fan of the NY Yankees, the NY Giants and Boston Celtics.
Ron is survived by his beloved wife, Peggy; one daughter and son in law, Saundra and Greg Macidyn of Syracuse; one son, Ronald Leonis II of Whitesboro; his beloved granddaughter and pride and joy, Alyssa Macidyn; two sisters, Eva Tripple of Mohawk and Marie Leonis; two brothers and one sister in law, Samuel Leonis, Jr. and his wife, Carol of Ilion and Gary Leonis of Mohawk; his in laws, Karl LaMondie of Frankfort, Arthur Daz of Ilion and Cynthia Leonis of Georgia; his close cousins, Sally and Francis Manno of Ilion and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers, Frank Leonis, Thomas Leonis, and Paul Leonis and one sister, Evelyn Daz.
Ron's family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the doctors and nurses of St. Elizabeth's ICU and Special Care Unit for the special care and comfort shown to him during his illness and passing.

His funeral will be held Sunday afternoon at 4:00 PM in the V.J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc. 203 Second Ave. Frankfort, with Deacon Michael Carbone, officiating. Interment will be held privately at the convenience of his family. Calling hours will be Sunday afternoon from 1:00 PM until the time of services in the V.J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc. Members of the American Legion will meet Sunday afternoon at 3:30 at the funeral home for services.
