Obituary of Carmella Valent

Frankfort - Mrs. Carmella Valent, 93, of 111 Second Ave. passed away Wednesday, December 10, 2014 in Valley Health Services with her family by her side. She was born in Little Falls on February 18, 1921 the daughter of the late Paul and Jennie Guerriero Casullo and she attended schools there. She was married to Sam F. Valent on February 16, 1946 in St. Joseph's Church, Little Falls. Sam passed away on September 22, 2009. Carmella was employed as a Floor Lady for Allegro Shoes, Little Falls and later for Univac in both the Ilion and Utica plants for many years. She was a communicant of Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church. Carm will always be remembered for her warm and friendly smile. She loved her family and was an exceptional cook and baker and loved making the traditional Italian cookies for Christmas, weddings and graduations. Carmella is survived by two sons and daughters in law, Dennis and Jean Valent of Herkimer and David and Elaine Valent of Mason, OH; one daughter and son in law, Linda and David Tripoli of Schuyler; seven grandchildren. Valerie and her husband, Everett Pietras, Jason and his wife, Kate Valent,, Samantha Valent, Dr. David and his wife, Dr. Amy Valent, Andrea and her husband, Derek Wilson,, David Tripoli and Daniel and his wife, Anne Tripoli; two great grandchildren, Trey Valent and Arabella Tripoli one brother, John Casullo of Florida; one sister in law, Connie Casullo of Little Falls; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her two sisters and brothers in law, Lena and Albert Novak and Mary and Elmer Lewis; her in laws, Joseph and Jean Valent, Anthony and Bernice Valent and Mary and Frederick Feola. Her funeral will be held Saturday afternoon at 12:30 from the V. J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc., 203 Second Ave. Frankfort and at 1:00 in Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Paul Catena, pastor. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday 2-4 and 7-9 at the V. J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc. Carm's family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the nurses and staff of Valley Health Services 1 West Rehab and 1 East Extension for the wonderful care and compassion shown to her during her stay and passing. They would also like to extend their gratitude to her primary care physician, Dr. William Parker and nurse Jo for taking such great care of her.
