Frankfort - Mr. John J. Gorea, 76, of 600 Second Ave. Ext. passed away Saturday, October 18, 2014 in his home with his loving family by his side.
He was born in Frankfort on January 13, 1938, the son of the late James and Catherine Carrie Green Gorea. He attended Frankfort schools and graduated from Frankfort Schuyler High school with the class of 1955. He was married to Adeline Addie Rando on May 19, 1962 in St. Anthony's Church. John was employed as a liquor salesman throughout the area. He was the owner and operator of Kevin's, Herkimer and of John J. Gorea Vending Co. Ilion. He was the manager of several restaurants and country clubs in the valley and was a well-known car salesman in the area. He was a communicant of Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church and a member of the St. Francis Di Paolo Society, Frankfort. In John's youth, he played semi-pro football with the Frankfort Falcons and was a former Frankfort Trustee. He loved being around his family and friends and loved cooking for them and watching them enjoy a great meal.
John is survived by his beloved wife, Adeline Addie Gorea; two daughters, Karin Zipko and her fiancée, John Piseck and Sheri Ferdula and her companion, Paul Rose, all of Frankfort; one sister, Dolores Dee Carona of Albany; three cherished grandchildren, Michael Zipko, Jamie Zipko and Jake Ferdula; his in laws, Angela and Chuck Piscitello of Palm Coast, FL, John Rando and George Rando, both of Herkimer; nephews and nieces, Jack and Lynette Tresoline and family, Jack and Sandy Carona and family, James and Heather Carona, Mary Noel and Jude Reardon and family and Patricia Tresoline and Ashley and several cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his father in law and mother in law, Salvatore M. and Antoinette Surace Rando, two brothers in law, Jack Carona and Salvatore Rando and his nephew, Anthony Tresoline, Jr.
His funeral will be Thursday morning at 10:30 AM in Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church, S. Frankfort St., Frankfort, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Leo Potvin. Interment will be private in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. There will be no public calling hours. His funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the V.J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc., 203 Second Ave. Frankfort.
