Obituary of Angelo J. Long

Mr. Angelo J. Long Frankfort - Mr. Angelo J. Long, 92, of 103 Second Ave. passed away Monday, April 3, 2017 in Little Falls Hospital. He was born in Frankfort on July 19, 1924, the son of the late John and Rose Di Masi Longeretta. He attended Frankfort schools and graduated from Frankfort High School with the class of 1941. He served with the US Army during World War II in the Pacific Theater and was Honorably Discharged on February 6, 1946 with the rank of Corporal. He was married to Flora Iocovozzi Favat on March 20, 1971 in St. Mary's Church, Frankfort. Flora passed away on May 7, 2001. Angelo was employed in the Research and Development Department for Remington Arms until his retirement in 1982 after 40 years of dedicated service. He was a communicant of Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church and a member of the American Legion Post #845, V.F.W Post #502 Frankfort - Ilion, the 40 & 8, the Young At Heart Senior Citizens and was an Exempt member of the Frankfort Volunteer Fire Department. Angelo is survived by one daughter, Matti Taylor of Wildomar, CA; and, one son, Joseph Favat of Saratoga Springs; son in law, Joseph and his wife, Janet Cristiano of Pleasanton, CA; his in laws, Leona Long, Ben Palmieri, John and Josephine "Cookie" Iocovozzi and Celeste Iocovozzi; his dedicated niece and nephew, Marilu and Robert Pacific; his very special friends, Carl And Judy Richardson; seven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his daughter, Verna Cristiano; his daughter in law, Liz Favat; one grandson, Mark Taylor; two sisters, Grace Kiser and Lucy Capalupo and six brothers, Joseph Long, Charles Longeretta, Carmen Longo, Anthony Longeretta, Ray Longeretta, and, Ralph Longeretta. His funeral will be held Monday morning at 9:45 AM from the V.J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc., 203 Second Ave. Frankfort and at 10:30 AM in Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Paul Catena, pastor. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Calling hours will be Sunday, April 9 from 4 - 8 PM at V.J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc. Members of the Young at Heart Senior Citizens will meet Sunday afternoon at 4:30 and the Frankfort Fire Department at 7:15 at the funeral home for services. Contributions in Angelo's memory may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Angelo's family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the nurses and staff of Valley Health Services, Little Falls Hospital, Dr. Handy and Dr. Freund for the wonderful care and kindness shown to him during his illness and passing.
