New Hartford - Mr. Edward "Doug" Crescent, 80, formerly of Middle Settlement Rd. passed away Tuesday, September 16, 2014 in the Abraham House, Utica, with his loving family by his side. He was born in Utica on May 10, 1934, the son of the late Jasper and Mary Guido Crescent. He attended Utica schools and graduated from Whitesboro High School. He went on to attend Utica Business School. He served his country in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was married to Eleanor Thurston on July 16, 1960 in St. Mary's Church in Frankfort. Eleanor passed away on January 2, 1973. Doug was at one time employed with Univac in Utica, MDS in Herkimer and later worked as a US Marshall with the National Security Agency in Washington DC. He was a member of the American Legion in New Hartford and a communicant of St. Paul's Catholic Church in Whitesboro. Doug is survived by one son and his partner, Mark Crescent and Jamal Bouali of Victor; one sister, Katherine Light of New Hartford and two sisters in law, Delores Crescent of Whitesboro and Rose Marcantonio of Utica. "Uncle Doug" is also survived by a great many beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews of particular note are Annette and Chuck Chafee, Beth and Rich Decker and Cathy and Phil Wagner, as well as by many cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his daughter, Mary Michele Crescent on July 5, 1985; two brothers, Peter Crescent and Ralph Crescent and one sister, Rosemary Clark. His funeral will be held Tuesday morning at 9:00 in the Dimbleby, Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral Home, 40 Main St. Whitesboro and at 9:30 in St. Paul's Catholic Church where a Funeral Mass will be celebrated by the Fr. Thomas Durant. Interment will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Frankfort. Calling hours will be Monday from 5-7 PM in the Dimbleby, Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral Home. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the V.J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc. 203 Second Ave. Frankfort. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Doug's memory may be made to Abraham House, 1203 Kemble St. Utica, NY 13501.
