Obituary of Beatrice A. Tripoli
Please share a memory of Beatrice to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Schuyler - Mrs. Beatrice A. Tripoli, affectionately remembered as Gramma B, 86, of Carder Lane passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 26, 2014 in the Sitrin Health Care Center with her family by her side.
She was born in Endicott on May 4, 1928, the daughter of the late Jasper and Vincenza Rendise Catalano. She attended Endicott schools and was a graduate of Rome Free Academy with the class of 1946. Bea was employed at her family grocery store for many years which is where she met the love of her life, Anthony Tripoli. On October 16, 1948 they were married in St. John the Baptist Church in Rome. The two shared a blessed union of 57 years until Anthony's passing on January 16, 2006. Bea, along with her husband, were Co-owners and Operators of Anthony Tripoli Farms in Schuyler for 50 years where she also served as secretary-treasurer and pasteurized milk for the family. Bea was also at one time employed as a waitress at Savarin Restaurant on the NYS Thruway. She was famous for her Saturday noon pizza which people still ask about today. She will also be remembered for her pineapple sheet and Sunday noon lunch with homemade meatballs. You always had to be sure and tell her how many you had. Her enthusiasm for family parties and events had her frequently making meatballs and trays of cookies. The drivers who picked up the milk at the farm were treated to a box of Christmas cookies every year. Her contribution to the war effort was donating blood which she continued to do for many decades, something she was very proud of. She was also proud of the fact that she was able to speak, read and write in Italian. She was a communicant of Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church.
Bea is survived by three sons and daughters in law, Thomas and Dorothy Tripoli of Schuyler, Larry and Kathy Tripoli of Frankfort and David and Linda Tripoli of Schuyler; one brother, John Catalano of Rome; eight grandchildren, Jessica Tripoli, Deena and Robert Robinson, Jared Tripoli and his companion, Candace Goodenough, Anne and Israel Guzman, Katie and Joel Nowalk, Theresa Tripoli, David Tripoli, and Daniel and Anne Tripoli; her great grandchildren, Nadia Guzman, Elias Guzman and Arabella Tripoli and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by one sister, Marie George and one brother, Vito Catalano.
Her funeral will be held Monday morning at 10:30 from the V.J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc., 203 Second Ave. Frankfort and at 11:00 in Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Paul Catena, assisted by Deacon Richard Prusko of St. Mark's Church, N. Utica. Calling hours will be Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the V.J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
Bea's family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the Nurses and Staff of the Sitrin Health Care Center's Aspen House for the kindness and compassion shown to her during her illness and passing.
