Ossining - Mr. Raymond L. Poole, 71, of 18 Waterview Dr. beloved husband of Florence Nicastro Poole passed away Saturday, June 14, 2014 in Phelps Memorial Hospital with his family by his side. He was born in Holyoke, MA on February 20, 1943, the son of the late Jeannette Desorcy Poole. He graduated from West Springfield High School with the class of 1960. He served with the US Navy during the Vietnam Conflict and was Honorably Discharged September 16, 1963 as an Airborne Radio Operator. He later attended and graduated from University of Massachusetts Amherst in 1969. He was married to Florence Nicastro on June 6, 1992 in Briarcliff Manor, NY. Raymond was a CPA with over 45 years of experience in public accounting. After 14 years of audit experience at Big Six accounting firms, he founded a consulting practice in New York City where he became a distinguished author and presenter of training seminars for accounting firms and private industry. He received countless outstanding discussion leader awards from several state CPA societies and the American Institute of Certified Public Accounts (AICPA). As an expert in accounting, auditing, and financial reporting, he also provided consulting services to small and medium sized accounting firms in the tri-state area. He was a member of American Legion Post #506 Ossining, NY, NYS Society of CPAs, the AICPA, and the St. Francis Di Paolo Society, Frankfort. Raymond is survived by his beloved wife, Florence Poole; two daughters, Cindy Poole Morris of Bear, DE who considered Ray more than just her dad but her "rock" and Robin Poole of Wayne, NJ; three grandchildren, Robbie Morris, Alex Morris and Ally Morris; one brother, Carl Poole of West Springfield, MA; one sister, Evelyn Bernier of Chicopee, MA; three nephews, Paul Poole, Jason Poole and Derek Poole; his aunt, Lucille Desorcy all of MA; his in laws, Joseph Nicastro, Rose Ann Nicastro, Thomas and his wife, Barbara Nicastro, Lucy Nicastro and her husband, Matt Westgate and Chris Nicastro and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by brother, Norman Gauthier and by his brother in law, David Nicastro. His funeral will be held Thursday morning at 11:30 am from the V.J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc., 203 Second Ave. Frankfort with Br Edward Bick, officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 4-7 pm at V.J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc. Members of the St. Francis Society will meet Wednesday evening at 6:30 at the funeral home for services. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ray's memory may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project PO Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
