Obituary of Barbara A. De Luke

Frankfort - On Friday, May 30, 2014 our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Mrs. Barbara A. De Luke, 77, of 109 Libritz Dr. passed away peacefully in St. Elizabeth's Medical Center with her loving family by her side. She was born in Frankfort on October 14, 1936, the daughter of the late Karl and Grace Fish Feldman. She attended Frankfort schools and graduated from Frankfort High School in 1954. She later attended and graduated from the Utica School of Commerce. Barbara was married to Joseph De Luke, Jr. on July 25, 1957 in St. Mary's Church, Frankfort. She was employed as a Sales Representative for Hershey Corporation, Utica, for many years. She was a communicant of Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church, a member of the Herkimer County Daughters of the American Revolution and the Mohawk Valley Garden Club. Barbara served on the Zoning Board for Frankfort for many years. She enjoyed traveling and gardening. She especially loved animals. Barb loved her family and friends very much and having them over for dinner, especially on Sundays when you could always try one of her famous meatballs. Everyone knew there was always an open door and a seat at her table, anytime day or night. Barbara is survived by her beloved husband of 57 wonderful years, Joseph De Luke, Jr.; three sons and two daughters in law, Joseph De Luke III and his wife, Linda and Jon De Luke, all of Frankfort and Daniel and Jennifer De Luke of New Hartford; three daughters and sons in law, Lisa and Rick Krantz, Jill and Guy Puleo and Dana and Steve Palmieri, all of Utica; one sister, Jane Williams of Schuyler; her sister in law and brother in law, Thelma and Frank "Pop" Spina of Frankfort; six grandchildren, Shaunna Krantz, Erica De Luke, Francesca De Luke, Daniel De Luke, Alivia De Luke and Sophia De Luke; her nieces and nephews, Sue and Fred Labella, Carl and Dr. Cheryl Williams, Peter Williams, Linda and Jack Angrisano, Donna Clifford, Sue and Mark Lofstrom, Frank Spina and Mark and Vicky Spina; her uncle and aunt, Raymond and Ida De Luke of Frankfort and several great nieces, great nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her brother in law, Donald Williams. Her funeral will be held Tuesday afternoon at 1:15 from the V.J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc., 203 Second Ave. Frankfort, and at 2:00 in Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Leo Potvin and assisted by Deacon James Bower. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Calling hours will be Monday evening from 4-8 pm at the V.J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Barbara's memory may be made to the Herkimer County Humane Society, PO Box 73, Mohawk, NY 13407-1154. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Barbara's family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the Nurses and staff of the Masonic Care Community, especially the Manhattan Wing and the St. Elizabeth's Medical Center ICU for the wonderful care and compassion shown to her during her stay and passing.
