Obituary of Richard A. Mosseau

Mr. Richard A. Mosseau Herkimer - Mohawk - Mr. Richard A. Mosseau, 85, formerly of Mohawk and Herkimer went to meet his Lord and Savior on Saturday, April 1, 2017 in Alpine Rehabilitation and Nursing with his family by his side. He was born in Utica on January 9, 1932, the son of the late Allie and Rose Miller Mosseau. He attended Utica schools and graduated from Utica Free Academy with the class of 1950. Richard enlisted in the US Army on February 5, 1951. He served stateside in several locations and at Rosiere Air Force Base, France and was Honorably Discharged on December 24, 1953 with the rank of Corporal. He was married to Bea Olmstead, she was the daughter of the late Victor and May Cramer Olmstead, on December 27, 1952 in South Church, Utica. Dick and Bea had a marriage of complete love and devotion for each other and their family. Bea passed away on October 21, 2012. Richard was employed as a Tool and Die Maker for 40 years at Sperry Univac, Mohawk Data Science and lastly for Remington Arms until his retirement in 1997 after 25 years of service. He was a member of Oak Ridge Free Methodist Church for over 60 years and served as the treasurer for 30 plus years. He loved teaching CYC and Sunday School and did this for many years. Following his retirement, he loved to take care of the grounds of the church. Richard was a loving husband, father and grandfather and is survived by four daughters and three sons-in-law, Faith and her husband, David Turner of Latham, Joy Mosseau of Queensbury, Hope and her husband, Donny Stewart of Oppenheim and Jill and her husband, Michael Dinsmore of Queensbury; five grandchildren, Luke Mosseau, Courtney Turner, Claire Turner, Emma Dinsmore and Madelyn Dinsmore; one brother and sister in law, Clifford and Anna Mosseau of Fonda and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his brother, Arthur Edward Mosseau. His funeral will be held Friday afternoon at 12:00 in Oak Ridge Free Methodist Church with the Rev. Christopher Schumske, officiating. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday from 10:00 until the time of services at the Oak Ridge Free Methodist Church, 838 W German St, Herkimer. His funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi & Burns Funeral Home, 329 S. Washington St. Herkimer.
