Frankfort - Ilion - Mrs. Martha L. Rossi, 90, of 120 Fitzer Dr., Ilion passed away Tuesday, April 8, 2014 in Mohawk Valley Health Care Center with her family by her side. She was born in Ilion on November 14, 1923, the daughter of the late Santo and Madeline Cacciatore Salvaggio. She attended Ilion schools and graduated from Ilion High School with the class of 1942. Martha was married to Frank Rossi on June 3, 1944 in St. Mary's Church, Frankfort. She was employed by Univac Ilion & Utica Plants for 20 years and was later employed by Par Technologies until her retirement in 1988. She was a communicant of Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church and a former member Young At Heart Senior Citizens. Martha was an avid bowler and loved to play bingo. Martha is survived by her beloved husband, Frank Rossi; one son, Joseph Rossi of Ilion; two daughters and sons in law, Mary and Lee Caruso of Frankfort and Gloria and Darrell Burdick of Mohawk; her son in law, Richard Clark of Ilion; her in laws, Mary Salvaggio of Frankfort and Louis and Naomi Rossi of Ilion; thirteen grandchildren, Lisa Lo Re, Joseph and Stephanie Aiello, Bernard and Lori Cushman, Laura Cushman, Regina Rossi, Joseph Rossi Jr, Adrienne and Michael Amidon, Vicki Callaghan, Michael and Stephanie Lawrence, Kerri Smith, Jose' and Chris Lopez, Nina and Norman Watson and Katherine Burdick; twenty great grandchildren, one great great grandchild and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by daughter, Nancy Clark on April 21, 2010, two brothers and one sister in law, Enos and Agnes Salvaggio and Joseph Salvaggio and her sister and brother in law, Carmella and Ralph Ciociola Her funeral will be held Saturday morning at 9:30 from the V. J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc., 203 Second Ave. Frankfort and at 10:00 in Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated by the Rev. Paul Catena, pastor. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday from 5-8 at the V. J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc. Martha's family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the nurses and staff especially Amanda of the Mohawk Valley Health Care Center's 4th floor for the wonderful care and compassion shown to her during her stay and passing.
