Sarasota - Ilion - Mrs. Jean M. Beardslee, 89, passed away Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at the home of her beloved daughter and son in law, Linda and Dan Spatto.
She was born in Starrucca, PA on December 25, 1924, the daughter of the late Raymond and Grace Stearns Carpenter. She attended schools there and graduated from Starrucca-Thompson High School. She was married to Robert Beardslee on May 30, 1952 in Starrucca. In 1955, the couple relocated to Binghamton. Jean was employed with the Susquehanna Valley Central School System as a Bus Driver for many years. After their retirement, they relocated to Florida. Robert passed away on November 11, 1995.
Jean is survived by her children, Gordon Beardslee of Clearwater, FL, Gary Beardslee of Sarasota, FL and Linda and Daniel Spatto of Ilion; two grandsons, Michael Spatto and Matthew Spatto of Ilion; one great-grandson, Gabriel Spatto of New Hartford; two brothers and one sister in-law, Robert and Helen Carpenter and Fred Carpenter, all of Johnson City and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by two brothers, Stanley Carpenter and Ernest Carpenter.
Her funeral will be held at the convenience of her family. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date in Sarasota. Her funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the V.J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc., 203 Second Ave., Frankfort, NY.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Jean's memory may be made to the Vamo United Methodist Church, 8521 Vamo Rd. Sarasota, FL 34231-7917 or to the Alzheimer's Association, Mohawk Valley Chapter, 258 Genesee Street, Suite 509, Utica, NY 13502.
