Ilion - Mrs. Mary Bonvino, 93, of 37 Harriet Ave. passed away Wednesday, January 1, 2014 in Mohawk Valley Health Care Center.
She was born in Frankfort on December 9, 1920, the daughter of the late Antonio and Josephine Maneen Giambrone. She attended Frankfort schools and graduated from Frankfort High School with the class of 1939.
She was married to Anthony V. Bonvino on September 5, 1942 in St. Mary's Church, Frankfort. Anthony passed away on November 25, 1983. Mary was at one time employed by Fibers in Little Falls, and later for Derby Sportswear in Herkimer for many years. She was a communicant of Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church and also volunteered at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center.
Mary is survived by three sons and daughters in law, Dr. Vincent and Carol Bonvino of Herkimer, Anthony and Mary Ellen Bonvino of Ilion and Philip and Christine Bonvino of Auburn; her grandchildren, Dr. Alysia Bonvino of Clay, Michelle B. and her husband, Greg Stanley of Baldwinsville, Todd Bonvino and his wife, Kara of Bluffton, IN, Tara and her husband, Brian Kerestes of Charlotte, NC, Teresa Bonvino of Ilion, Anthony Bonvino of Quincy, MA, Anthony Bonvino of Rome, Tarin Bonvino of Oswego and Jerica Bonvino of Moravia; her great grandchildren, Collin Stanley, Porter Kerestes, Alyssa Kerestes, Alanna Bonvino and Aryana Bonvino and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by one brother, Sam Giambrone, and two sisters, Lena McNeece and Florence Eppolito.
Her funeral will be held Saturday morning at 10:30 AM from the V.J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc., 203 Second Ave. Frankfort and at 11:00 AM in Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Paul Catena and assisted by Deacon James Bower. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Calling hours will be Saturday morning from 9:00 to 10:30 am at the V.J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc.
