Dear Theresa, our thoughts and prayers are with you and Cousin Vinnie at this very difficult time. JoAnn was such a special person with a very kind and gentle soul and we have no doubt that Jesus has opened his arms to greet her. We both have very fond memories of her infectious laughter and cheerful nature. We will all miss her, but you will feel the greatest loss and for that we are truly sorry. We will continue to keep JoAnn and you in our prayers. Please accept our heartfelt sympathies.

JoAnn is my dad's first cousin, and therefore my second. My memories of her are her love of cooking and baking and always getting to eat great whenever we went to visit her. I loved what she did with the Balloon Farm and I know winning that house was one of her greatest joys...(and one of her greatest headaches!). Some fond memories of her are the very nice celebration for my grandparent's 50th wedding anniversary she had at the Balloon Farm and also a very nice gathering at her house after my grandpa's funeral. She was very involved with the family and liked hosting events like these.
My thoughts are with Theresa and Vinny.

Miss Maneen will be truly missed by the many, many people whose lives she has touched-her students, their parents, her co-workers, her guests and her family. JoAnn had the great gift of teaching those around her, not just about academics, but about life itself. She was able to encourage everyone to do their best, and excell in all that they did. Her many years as an educator and trusted mentor are the hallmarks of an excellent teacher and an extraordinary individual. Her humor was contagious and was a bright spot in everyone's day. We will all cherish our treasured memories of the time that each of us has spent with her.

I loved Ms. Maneen so much. She was a brand new teacher when I was in elementary school. My best friend in school,Arlene (whose mom had died) and myself (whose mom had left my dad) were two sad little girls who Ms.Maneen took a special interest in. She was only in her early 20's , but still she mothered us and treated us like we were special. We used to give her shoulder rubs (back then that was acceptable) and she would love it. She would give us a hug if we were upset. She set up a contest for me and another good reader to keep us motivated and reading well above grade level. She provided enrichment long before it was a thing. I am so grateful to her that she was the teacher to the little girl I was. I will never forget her kindness. I only wish that I could have told her before this. Our teachers when we were young were like mythical fairies who lived at school...we tended to forget they were human and probably would have liked to have known how special they were to us. Thank you Ms. Mannen. Love you!

I was indeed sorry to hear of Joann's death. While we could see that she was ill when we visited, she seemed encouraged by her progress and hoped to be soon
free of her walker. She worked so hard to make the Balloon Farm a comfortable B&B completely permeated with a sweet Victorian spirit. I will always remember her beautifully bountiful Christmas decorations and fine period antiques collected so lovingly over the years. Hopefully they will be preserved and cared for as diligently as she did, with the help of kind Friar Francis and her sister.
May she rest in peace. Elizabeth Haimes and family, Balloon Farm guests

Miss Maneen, some of my greatest memories from my childhood and elementary school experience are from being in your classroom. In fact, whenever I see a little green frog, my thoughts are always with you. I hope I can be a great influence in someone's life as you were in mine. Although it has been many years since I was in your classroom, your love of children and learning will forever be in my heart. I will never forget you...

Miss Maneen, you were one reason why I became a teacher! Your gentile ways, kind heart, and patients with pre-teens was one of the best examples you could've taught by. I'll never forget how you taught me to carry myself with integrity, character and of course, a love for little green amphibians!
It's been a long time since I was in your classroom, but I continue to carry your spirit with me daily.... I even have my students rub my shoulders :)
God Bless my friend! You will never be forgotten!
