Obituary of Kathleen Virginia Potenza
Kathleen Virginia Potenza
Frankfort - Mrs. Kathleen Virginia Potenza, 87, went home to the Lord on Tuesday August 22, 2017 at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center with her loving family by her side.
She was born on Tuesday, April 29, 1930 in Utica, the daughter of the late James and Angeline Pernice Longo and she attended Proctor High School. She was married to Joseph Potenza on August 26, 1950 in St. Anthony of Padua Church. They shared a unique and blessed union of 67 years. She was at one time employed as an Inspector with Univac, Wagners, Union Fork and Hoe Co., Herkimer Cheese and most recently, Duofold in Mohawk. She was a communicant of Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church in Frankfort.
Kay loved her family and loved to cook for her family. She especially loved watching her grandchildren eat, her sauce and meatballs. None better ever. She was a fashionista who loved to shop and could still appropriately rock a pair of jeans. Well into her eighties a large part of her social life was daily visits to the Melrose Market to see "the girls". We thank them all for their kindness and attention paid to her.
Kathleen is survived by her beloved husband, Joseph Potenza; three daughters and sons in law, Jean and Dennis Valent of Herkimer, Sandra and Tom Migliore of Fort Myers and Kathy and Dan Caruso of New Hartford; one sister, Phyllis Longo of Buckeye, AZ; five grandchildren, Valerie and Everett Pietras, Jason and Kate Valent, Mallory and Jose Santiago, Matthew Migliore and Nicholas Caruso; her great-grandchildren, Trey Valent, Tessa Valent and Giada Santiago; her Goddaughter, Mary Caiola LaBella and several in laws, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by one brother, Rocco Longo.
Her mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday morning at 10:30 in Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church, S. Frankfort St., Frankfort, with the Rev. Paul Catena, officiating. In keeping with Kay's wishes, there will be no public calling hours. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the V.J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc. 203 Second Ave., Frankfort, NY 13340. Kay will be sadly missed by her family.
