Obituary of Benjamin Palmieri
Mr. Benjamin "Bennie" J. Palmieri
Frankfort - Mr. Benjamin J. Palmieri, 90, formerly of 317 Fourth Ave., passed away Saturday, October 7, 2017 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center with his family by his side.
He was born in Herkimer on January 22, 1927, the son of the late John and Mary (Natale) Palmieri. He attended Herkimer schools and graduated from Herkimer High School with the class of 1944. He served with the US Navy in the Pacific Theater and was Honorably Discharged. Ben was married to Rose (Iocovozzi) Palmieri on April 17, 1949 in St. Mary's Church, Frankfort. They shared a blessed union until her passing on July 30, 2016. Benny was employed as the Meat Department Manager for Herkimer Chief and John's Market until his retirement in 1985. Mr. Palmieri was a communicant of Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church and a member of the VFW.
Ben is survived by one daughter and son in law, Marilu and Robert Pacific of Frankfort; one son and daughter in law, Vincent and Carol Palmieri of Whitesboro; four grandchildren, Domenica and her husband, Kevin O'Donnell, Julie Pacific, Michael Palmieri and Alaina Palmieri; one brother and sister-in-law, Sam and Jennie Palmieri of Gloversville, one brother-in-law and two sisters-in-law, John and Josephine "Cookie" Iocovozzi of Palm Coast, FL, Celeste Iocovozzi of Savannah, GA and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Rose (Iocovozzi) Palmieri on July 30, 2016.
His funeral will be held Wednesday afternoon at 12:45 PM from the V.J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc., 203 Second Ave. Frankfort and at 1:30pm in Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Paul Catena. Interment will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Calling hours will be Tuesday evening from 4-7 PM in the V.J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Bennie's memory may be made to Oneida & Madison County Hospice & Palliative Care, 4277 Middle Settlement Rd, New Hartford, NY 13413 or to The Frankfort Fire Department, 158 S. Litchfield St, Frankfort, NY 13340. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
Bennie's family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the Nurses and Staff at St. Elizabeth Medical Center ICU as well as Dr. Leo Sullivan and Dr. Dulkin for the kindness and compassion shown to him.
