Frankfort - Mrs. Fanny Mamie Bono, 97, formerly of Second Ave. passed away Friday, May 31, 2013 in Harbor Health Center of Port Charlotte, FL with her family by her side.
She was born in Frankfort on December 23, 1915, the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Grippe Paratore and she attended Frankfort schools. She was married to Salvatore "Leo" Bono on October 9, 1943 in St. Mary's Church, Frankfort. Leo passed away on December 12, 1983. Fanny worked in the food service department for Mohawk Valley General Hospital for many years. She was a communicant of Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church. Fanny will always be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and she loved to play bingo.
Fanny is survived by her son and daughter in law, Salvatore "Sam" and his wife, Cindy Bono of North Port, FL; her daughter and son in law, Anna Marie and Ronald Smithson of Frankfort; her grandchildren, Scott Smithson and his wife, Kelly, Michelle and her husband, Paul Williams, Kimberly and her husband, Harold Wehrle, Shari and her husband, Tommy Nicoletta, Jason Bono, Joseph Scarafile and his wife, Kathy, Samantha Bono and Jesse Bono; Fanny was one of seventeen children and is survived by one sister, Tina Romano of Syracuse and one brother and sister in law, Frank and Mary Paratore of Utica; two sons in law, Gary Klein and Joseph Scarafile and his wife, Gail, all of Utica; several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins She was predeceased by two daughters, Mary Ann Klein and Rosalee Scarafile and several brothers and sisters.
Her funeral will be held Saturday morning at 9:30 AM from the V.J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc., 203 Second Ave., Frankfort and at 10:00 AM in Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Leo Potvin and assisted by Deacon James Bower. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday, June 7 from 4-7 at V.J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc.
