Mrs. Denise A. Luther
Frankfort - Mrs. Denise A. Luther, 44, passed away on Monday, October 23, 2017, with her family by her side.
She was born on February 5, 1973, in Ilion, the daughter of the late James and Caroline Galvano Romeo. She was a 1991 graduate of Frankfort-Schuyler High School and received her degree as a Registered Nurse in 1995 from MVCC. Denise was married to James Luther on August 30, 1997, in Our Lady Queen of Apostle’s Church. Denise was employed as an RN by Slocum Dickson Medical Center, Valley Health Services, Frankfort-Schuyler Central, other area schools and US Care Systems.
Denise's great love in the world was her family and having the pleasure of attending her children’s activities. She had a special place in her heart for her pets. Denise was a devout catholic and was a communicant of Our Lady Queen of Apostle’s Church.
She is survived by her loving husband, James Luther, Sr.; her three children, James, Maria and Vincent Luther, all at home; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Linda and Joseph LaValla, Donna and Mark Brown, Mary Romeo and Paul Palumbo, all of Frankfort, and Susan and Rocco Perretta of New York Mills; her father-in-law, George Luther of Schuyler; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, George and Shawn Luther of Schuyler and Laura and Paul Longeretta of Barneveld. Aunts and uncles, Catherine and Joseph Terras, Jane and Salvatore Baggetta, Mary Branck, Don and Ida Luther, Robert and Connie Luther and JoAnne Gorea, many cousins and several nieces and nephews, all of which she held very dear to her heart. She was predeceased by her sister, Carol Ann Johnson; her mother-in-law, Dorothy Luther; and her grandmothers, Mary Galvano, Margaret Romeo and Dorothy Carbone.
Denise’s funeral will be held on Saturday morning at 11:30 AM from the V.J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc., 203 Second Avenue, Frankfort and at 12:30 in Our Lady Queen Of Apostle’s Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Paul Catena. Interment will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Friday from 3:00 to 8:00 PM at the V.J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Denise's memory may be made to a college fund being set up for her children in care of their father, James Luther Sr., 226 E. Main St., Frankfort, NY 13340. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
Denise’s family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to her doctors and nurses for their wonderful care, and to the community for their overwhelming generosity. A special thank you to Denise’s many compassionate, supportive, and loyal friends and to her lifelong friend, Father Francis Vivacqua, all who comforted Denise throughout her illness and at the time of her passing.
