Patty and Shelley, I am so sorry to learn of Eunice's passing. My grandmother, Rosabelle Hanson Erickson, was your dad's oldest sibling. Eunice was a great cyber-friend who shared many of her memories of the Hansons and also information from the family tree. I became concerned after I emailed her and didn't get a response, so I emailed again today and that email was returned. That's when I feared the worst and googled her name. It's tough to lose a mom, and you have my deepest sympathy. I only met her in person twice that I can recall, but I know from those visits what a special person she was. I will miss chatting with her via email.

I don't remember Eunice in my graduating class but I do remember we got together in 2001 or so at a café for lunch in Washington Mills, NY that being about half way between her home in Frankfort Center and my home in Deansboro, NY. We had a nice lunch and visit which ended when they closed the place at 2 pm. We have stayed in touch ever since and she and my brother Mel Merry researched a booklet on the one room school houses in the Town of Frankfort.
To the children of Eunice: Words cannot express how sorry I am that your mother died. As the days go by, your grief will lessen but time will never erase the memories you have of her so treasure them. I pray that God will give you the comfort and support you need now and in the future. love, Edith Merry Eastman

I had the pleasure of meeting Eunice a number of years ago when I purchased 2 copies of her wonderful book on Frankfort Center history, the families and everyday life. My father Harold D. was from Frankfort Center and he was caretaker for St. Theresa's Church for many years. Every Sunday we attended Mass there and Saturdays were spent cleaning the church and caring for the grounds.
I am very glad that I had the honor of knowing Eunice and hearing some of the local stories within that small community and my family connections there. She gave me a copy of the one-room schoolhouse photo that my Uncle Art D. and herself had attended. We also shared a love for local history and preservation of cemeteries. Eunice also, graciously contributed several old student school lists to the Herkimer County NY Genweb genealogy website online that I am involved with.
On occasion, I would see her comments to the "Letter to the Editor" in the local newspaper on present day concerns. She was all about life, history and blessed with an amazing memory of the good families and life about that area, I can still recollect her amusing tales of country life before indoor plumbing, I am most fortunate to have briefly known her and thinking of her never fails to bring a smile. She will be missed. Rest in peace Eunice and your legacy continues.

Patty and Kerry,
So very sorry to hear of your mom's passing. She was a wonderful lady and you must have many wonderful memories of her from over the years. She came to my mom's 80th birthday party and kidded my uncle Stanley about dating him many years ago. She was a close friend of my aunt Stella Brezinski and knew all the old Frankfort Center people and stories. I am so glad I stopped to visit her last fall, to ask about her book. We had a great visit, talked about my mom way back to when they went to school together and my aunts and uncles, all gone now. We talked about my son, Chris, who died last year. She played the organ for me and I was happy to see her mind was so sharp. She bragged about the work her grandson did on her home; it was beautiful inside. I know she will be missed by everyone especially her family, Jennifer and I offer our sympathy to you, take care and you are in our prayers.
In sympathy, Carolyn and Jennifer Schmidt and family

Eunice was an active citizen until the end, an inspiration to the rest of us, to take an interest in events around us, and, when needed, to write a "Letter to the Editor" to express our freedom of the press. It was always a joy to visit her, especially the time she played her organ for us, by ear, as she could not read music! I will miss her.
