I just learned of Al’s passing almost a year ago. He was my roommate at the Sigma Chi house at Colgate for about a year. Certainly was a character, and definitely had the gift of gab. He was nicknamed Herk because of his hometown, and was into Jackson Pollick - type art. The one piece of art I remember featured cigarette butts ground into the paint. We were in touch only occasionally after graduation, but I remember his stint as a record producer in NYC. I think he worked with some pretty well-known talent. He also fixed me up with a girl who had just broken up with Paul Simon of Simon and Garfunkel. That didn’t work out so well, and I think that was the last time I saw him. As we Navy guys say. I wish you fair winds and following seas, Al.

So sorry to hear of Al’s passing. He was a wonderful sweet, sweet person. I was blessed to have met him years ago when he represented me. He was new to the area then, his compassion and kindness was refreshing. We stayed in contact for a few years. Fly high Al.

Sorry for your loss. Al was a classmate for 8 years at St. Francis and 4 years at Herkimer High. We spent many good times thru the those years. I remember his work to become an Eagle Scout, playing Little League baseball, and playing 4 years of high school football at Earl Field. He had a good sense of humor and always helped out when needed. I broke my collarbone in football practice and he was the one that convinced Assistant Coach Stagliano that I was really injured.
After Al graduated from Colgate he bought a motorboat and I was appointed first mate. We spent a lot of time waterskiing on White Lake with our girlfriends. We both were each others Best Man at our weddings.
Al was at Karen and my 50th wedding anniversary in 2015. He will always be remembered as a good friend.

Al was a buddie. I was a year behind him in high school. Recall his dad bought him a 1958 T Bird convertible when her graduated from high school. We had a great trip to Saratoga & another to Colgate. Strange we both became attorneys. I never knew and am sure he did not. His smile and peaceful face never changed. He made the world a better place

My sincere condolences, I am so sorry for your loss. It is an especially difficult time for you as a family to lose your beloved patriarch, but I cannot begin to know the depth of your despair or the pain in your hearts. However, our father in heaven, Jehovah, knows! That is why, under the Kingdom rulership of his son, Jesus Christ, he has promised that death will be done away with! (1 Corinthians 15:26) He also promises that those who are now sleeping in death will be awaken to life, not on an earth filled with wickedness and violence, pain and suffering, but on a paradise earth filled with righteousness and righteous people! (Psalm 37:10, 11; John 5:28, 29 and Revelation 21:3, 4) If you would like to know more about God's wonderful promises and his purpose for the earth and mankind, please feel free to contact me at your convenience or visit jw.org. Again, I am truly sorry for your loss.
