Frank A. Zaffarano
Schuyler - Mr. Frank A. Zaffarano, 68, passed away unexpectedly on Holy Saturday, March 31, 2018 at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center.
He was born on Tuesday, July 26, 1949 in Ilion, the son of the late Frank J. and Carol Anderson Zaffarano. He attended Frankfort schools and graduated from Frankfort Schuyler High School with the class of 1968. Following his graduation, he and his twin brother Leonard, enlisted in the US Navy Seabees and served in Vietnam together. He received his Honorable Discharge on November 19, 1970. Following his military service, he attended MVCC and received his degree in Engineering. He was at one time married to Joanne Salamone. Frank was employed by Remington Arms, Ilion and retired in 2005 after 32 years of dedicated service. He was later employed as a driver for Craska Trucking and Heartland Express. He was the Commander of the Yorkville VFW Post 6001.
Frank is survived by one son and daughter in law, Stephen Zaffarano and his wife, Noel of Brownsburg, IN; two daughters and one son in law, Bernadette Nolan of Chester, VA and Francine and her husband, Jeremy Kerber of Richmond, VA; his siblings, Sandra Zaffarano of Schuyler, his twin brother, Leonard Zaffarano and his wife, Sharon of Gouvenour, Edna and her husband, Karl Riesel of Fayetteville, NC, Carol Zaffarano of Canadaiagua, Alvina and her husband, John Bord of Schuyler, Jacqueline and her husband, Steve Leve of Mohawk, Chester Zaffarano and his wife, Mina of Hoosick Falls and Marc and his wife, Sandi Zaffarano of Middleville; his companion, Jackie Rogers of Schuyler; his beloved canine and constant companion, Skyler Zaffarano; ten granddaughters and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his son in law, MSGT Frank T. Nolan, US Army.
His funeral will be held on Friday morning at 11:00 in the V.J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc. 203 Second Avenue, Frankfort with the Rev. Brian Engel, officiating. Frank's Interment will be held with full Military Honors in Forest Hill Cemetery, Utica. Calling hours will be held on Thursday evening from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the V.J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc. Members of the VFW will meet Thursday at 7:00 PM at the funeral home for services.
