Obituary of Leo Krech
Herkimer - Mr. Leo Krech, 89, of Herkimer, passed away, Thursday, June 28, 2018 in the Folts Home with his family by his side.
He was born in Herkimer on February 3, 1929, the son of the late Michael and Anna Zawalin Krechkowski. He attended Herkimer Schools and graduated from Herkimer High School with the class of 1948. Leo served our country with the US Army in Germany and was Honorably Discharged on May 4, 1955 with the rank of Corporal. He was married to the late Maria Luise Hechler in August of 1955. The two shared a blessed union for many years until Maria's passing on June 28, 2015. Leo was employed as a US Government Printer for Griffiss Air Force Base in Rome for many years. He was of the Orthodox Faith.
Leo is survived by three daughters and two sons in law, Odessa Krech of Murfreesboro, TN, Venessa and Jack Hartman of FL and Marlissa Krech-Keavaney and her husband Thomas Keavaney of Herkimer; his beloved grandchildren, Jeremy and Melissa Helmer, John and Ashley Hartman, Lisa and Daniel Matthews and Nikolai Keavaney and his great granddaughters, Ava Hartman, Addison Hartman and Lydia Matthews. He was predeceased by his sister, Mary Krechkowski and his brother, Peter Krechkowski.
His funeral will be held Monday afternoon at 12 PM from the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi & Burns Funeral Home, 329 S. Washington St. Herkimer with the Rev. Fr. Thaddeus Franta, officiating. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Herkimer. Calling hours will be Monday morning from 10 AM until the time of services from the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi & Burns Funeral Home.
