He exemplified work ethic and worked on the farm daily until the age of 85.  He was a member of the Herkimer County Soil and Water Conservation Board, serving for 27 years, the Grange, The Farm Bureau, OHM Holstein Club, NY Holstein Association, Herkimer County Dairy Herd Improvement Board and served as an Election Board Custodian for the Town of Schuyler for 50 years.

Roy is survived by his beloved wife, Linda; seven children, Dr. Debra Windecker and her husband, Stephen Geer of Fulton, Alan Windecker of Utica, Patti Sadler and her husband, Jack of Parrottsville, TN, Dale Windecker and his wife, Deborah of Schuyler, James Costello and his wife, Barbara of Herkimer, Melissa Sperry of Herkimer and Kimberly Costello and her wife, Lisa Williams of Selinsgrove, PA; his grandchildren, Teressa, Kyle, Jesse, Kelsee, Kacey, Kayla, Bryce, Sarah, James, Laura, Jessica and Angella, six great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by two sisters, Helen Hyer and Shirley Dolan; one brother, Harold Windecker and his son in law, Kelvin Sperry.

His funeral will be held Tuesday at 12 noon in the V.J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc., 203 Second Ave. Frankfort with the Rev. Robert Wollaber, officiating.
