Arthur B. Daz

Ilion - Mr. Arthur B. Daz, 97, of Ilion, passed away, Tuesday, September 4, 2018 in Upstate University Hospital.

He was born in Syracuse on August 16, 1921, the son of the late Matthew and Marcia Daz. He attended Syracuse schools and graduated from Ilion High School with the class of 1940. He served in the US Army during World War II from November 24, 1942 until his Honorable Discharge on January 2, 1946. He was married to Evelyn Leonis on October 2, 1944 in the Ilion United Methodist Church rectory. The two shared a blessed union for many years until Evelyn's passing on March 1, 2002. Arthur was employed as a Tool Maker for Remington Arms and later for Univac in Ilion. He was a member of Morningstar United Methodist Church in Ilion, VFW Post 502, the Mohawk American Legion and the St. Francis Society.

Arthur is survived by two sons and one daughter in law, Paul Daz and Matthew and Maria Daz, all of Ilion; his beloved grandchildren, Amber Daz, Matthew Daz, Jr. and his wife Ruth, and Michael Daz; his great grandchildren, Justin, Chelsy, Matthew, Addison and Anna and his in laws, Peggy Leonis, Sam and Carol Sue Leonis, Eva Tripple and Isabelle Hameister. He was predeceased by two sisters, Ann Engells and Jane Thorpe.

His funeral will be held Saturday, September 22, 2018 at 11:00 AM in in Oak View Cemetery, Cemetery St, Frankfort with the Rev. Robert Wollaber officiating. His funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the V.J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc. 203 Second Ave. Frankfort.
