The best way I have ever heard it put, is that God has a bouquet of flowers and that when he picks someone to come home to him, he is picking another flower to put into his bouquet. You, Erik, are the biggest, brightest, LOUDEST, most vibrant "flower" I have ever had the privilege to know. You are missed.
Don't worry though, I will light a fire every winter for you and try to hold Zach's pinky when he least expects it. Rest in peace. And I know you'll be watching out for everyone you love.

We have been friends since I was 4 years ago and grew up just 2 houses away from each other but spent more time in each others home than we did our own. In the 40 years that we've been friends there's too many memories to list here, from video games to forced camping trips with Curtis & Mary Lou to limo rides to the Stadium...We grew up on the same block, then lived across town and eventually in different time zones but neither time or distance could ever come between our friendship. We will miss you, think of you often, & look forward to our meeting again...To Mary Lou, Dennis, Michelle & the kids our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Erik worked with our team at Avaap and will be truly missed by his collegues, friends and customers. Erik worked extremely hard to help his customers and even more so to assist his co-workers. He always loved a challenge and was a go to guy for the really difficult issues. I have thought about Erik often these last few days and everyone at Avaap will miss him.

I worked with Erik both at Paradigm and Avaap and will miss him. He was fun to work with and always willing to help when I needed it. He died too young, but he did leave an impact on both his clients and the other consultants he worked with.

"Pops"
Words cannot express what you meant and will continue to mean to me. Im heartbroken and still can't wrap my mind around this. The time we spent together was definitely not enough, but enough to impact my life in so many positive ways. I will never forget our random trips to Frys, just to check out the latest and greatest electronics. :) Or the times the whole family rocked out on guitar hero! The times we would ride around Mesquite and Forney blasting Eminem belting out the songs. I remember when you and I spray painted the outline of the new pool in the back yard, immediately looked at each other and knew "GO BIG OR GO HOME". Man...just the time we spent...bonding. You were a father to me. A Man of all Men and for that Mr. Erik Jay Smith I salute you. Gone but NEVER forgotten.
