Obituary of Vincent P. Maneen
Frankfort - Mr. Vincent P. Maneen, age 90, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 4, 2018, at The Grand at Mohawk Valley in Ilion with the love and support of his family at his side after a brief illness.
Born on March 27, 1928, Vinny was the son of the late Salvatore and Vita (Pulizzi) Maneen. After attending Frankfort Central School, Vinny enlisted in the United States Navy where he proudly served his country until he was honorably discharged in December17, 1947. On April 24, 1954, Vinny was married to the former Arlene J. Gauthier at St. Joseph’s Church in Utica, New York, and together they shared a blessed union of 64 years.
Vinny was a hard working man who spent the greater part of his life in the grocery business. He began his career working for Salamone’s Meat Market; he was co-owner of the Mohawk Village Market for several years, and in 1966 he opened “Vinny’s Market”. He was proud to say that his “Homemade Sausage” had been all over the United States and parts of Europe. At age 75, when Vinny’s Market closed, he was employed by the Frankfort-Schuyler Central School for an additional ten years as a groundskeeper.
Vinny was a communicant of Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church, a past member of the Frankfort Fire Department and the Frankfort American Legion.
Vinny was a generous and giving man who always looked out for others, always assisting whenever asked, and he was a very devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He enjoyed bowling, yearly bass fishing trips with his sons and grandson, mowing lawns, tending to his garlic and traveling with Arlene to Nashville, Las Vegas, Florida and Atlantic City.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Arlene; his sons and daughters-in-law, Vincent and Marilyn Maneen of Frankfort, Daniel and Mary Maneen of Sherrill, John and Kim Maneen of Frankfort and Richard and Peggy Maneen of Frankfort; his grandchildren, Jennifer Cencetti and her husband Dino, Justin Maneen and his fiancé, Sara Bianco, Christina Kallet and her husband Doug, Danielle Maneen and her boyfriend, Christopher Elsaesser, Alicia Radley and her husband Brett, Lauren Maneen, Megan Demma and her husband Bill, Daniel Dichiera and his girlfriend, Rachel Campbell and Katie Maneen; great-grandchildren, Nathan, Audrey and Colton Cencetti, Charlotte and Bryce Radley, Gabriella and Sophia Dichiera. He also leaves two brothers, Joseph Maneen and his wife, Peggy, and Thomas Maneen and his wife, Liz; and a sister-in-law, Clara Maneen. Besides his parents, Vinny was predeceased by his sisters, Julia Casamento and Josephine Davis, and his brothers, James and Baldassario (Baldy) Maneen. He was also predeceased by an infant great-granddaughter, Audrianna Dichiera.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the second floor staff at MVHCC for the compassion and care provided to Vinny during his stay there.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend Vinny’s visitation on Sunday, October 7, 2018, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m at the V.J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc.203 Second Ave., Frankfort. Vinny’s funeral service will commence on Monday, October 8, 2018, at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church in Frankfort, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by Rev. Paul Catena, Pastor. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Members of the Frankfort Volunteer Fire Department will meet Sunday evening at 6:30
